She smiles,
As her friends frown.
And they can't help,
Their frown from turning upside down.
She wipes their tears away.
Little do they know,
That she holds onto those tears,
And they spill from her eyes,
when she is alone.
They don't see the weight,
That rests on her shoulders,
The weight that they unknowingly put there.
They can't see the nightmares,
She has at night.
They don't see all the images,
Of them,
Lying on the floor,
Gone from her forever.
But she wouldn't have it any other way.
She enjoys the pain,
Because it’s the pain she has stolen,
To try and make her friends happy.
And all they will ever see,
Will be a happy smiling face,
That brightens the room when she walks in.
It’s the face of happiness and joy,
But her smile is not real.
Her tears are not of joy.
What they see is a lie.
