Grasping Fate

Chapter 24

"Every action has an equal and opposite reaction"

After Alesa left Adam she decided that it wouldn't be fair for Adam to go on not knowing about his own brother. And despite the rebels wanting to keep Seto and his friends here, they couldn't keep Mitch. He was the king of this land, and if he didn't return, the kingdom would begin to worry. Something they couldn't have, they needed to remain hidden.

"Dan, Travis, you two are the only ones remaining from Jordan's counsel. There is something we need to discuss."

"We're busy."

"You can't run this place by yourself, it took you, Jordan, and his friends to do all of this. I think the rebels need to reconsider their approach. Jordan told the truth, he isn't a person to doubt, you believe the words he spoke were true, don't you?"

They didn't answer.

"You two were reluctant to bring Sub in for help and he actually tried to betray everyone. Maybe you don't want to admit it, but Jordan has never once stopped helping the people here, you heard what he said. He isn't the prince anymore, the prince is dead. A lot happened today, but...we have to move forward."

"So you're saying just let Jordan free?" Travis asked.

"Yes."

"Why should we believe you, you're royalty like them," Dan said to Alesa.

"I'm human like them, like you. We're capable of good just as we are capable of bad. Jordan has done more good, he raised this place from the ground up, can you really out him like that?"

"Fine, we agree with you about that, but what about his brother. His goal has always been to help his brother, just as everyone else here has a goal for being here. His brother is here, so what makes you think he won't just leave, not to mention his brother is the second prince."

"Adam is just like many people from Neim, he was stripped of someone he cared dearly for, and from Jordan's story, it's obvious it was Emedo that did it. Does he not deserve to see his brother again, to fight for his brother, he's already expressed his willingness to help in anyway we demand."

"But you were against him too!"

"I let my emotions get the better of me, we have to think about this logically. What will benefit us more. Adam is the second prince, he knows more about Emedo than Jordan may know, since Jordan has been here for the past 10 years, while Adam has been in Emedo."

"And I must add, we can't keep Mitch here either. He offered everyone shelter, and he hasn't betrayed that trust yet, he is the king of this land and if he doesn't leave this place the kingdom will be suspicious of his disappearance."

Dan and Travis were silent, "Fine, we will release Jordan and Mitch. However we will keep the others in custody for now. Jordan is not our leader and neither are you. People may listen to you, but we will make the decisions until we are sure we can trust the rest of them."

"That is perfectly fine.

Alesa was happy with the results, this was all she needed. She was sure everything would work out soon enough.
