Chapter 2: Through The Gates

I stare at her, blinking numerous times as if it would make her go away. I don't know why I did it though, because I don't want her to go away. I didn't the first time, and I don't now.

A forsaken tear travelled down my cheek and I run through the gates and into her arms. She pulls me close and rests her chin on my head. The man with wings behind her smiles at me and I let my mother go, walking towards him. I stand next to his wings and pluck a feather to see if they're real or not. By the painful cry that erupts from his mouth after my actions, I'd say they were real.

"What are you?" I ask, staring at the man in awe.

"An angel, and if you come with me through these gates, then you will be one too."

I stare at him blankly. An angel? Aren't females angels? I think to myself.

"Well, that was sexist." He says. I stare at him and immediately realized what he did, and what he is capable of...

"Stay out of my head!" I cry, and he chuckles, then grabs my hand.  I turn around to reach for mother, but she's nowhere in sight.

"Where is she?" I ask as I turn back towards the angel. He smiles and says, "In there," With his free hand he points to a large marble building that stands behind the gates. The angel, who was still holding my hand, leads the way into heaven, and i follow closely behind....
