"Come in, come in!" Odessa hissed as we walked briskly up the sidewalk to her front door. We scampered inside, sighing in relief as the heavy wooden door shut.
"I had a vision! They're coming!" Odessa said, fear clear in her worried eyes.
"The lights turned green. What does that mean?" I cried, pulling up Clara's wrist.
"They're close." Odessa muttered. Long scratch marks reigned up and down Clara's arms from trying to pry it off.
"Do you have one too?" I asked Odessa.
"No." She sighed. Suddenly Carrie froze.
"I know what to do." She said lowly. We all turned to her.
"What?" Brennen asked.
"Clara and Callie can hold them off." She said confidently, looking at us with knowing eyes.
"How?" I asked, my heart beating hard in my chest.
"Clara can do powerful spells." Carrie explained, grabbing a small slit of paper from her jean pocket. "Your parents gave this to me for extreme emergencies. When they get here, say this. It'll hold them off." She continued, handing the paper to Clara. Clara took a shaky breath and nodded.
"What about me? I'm only human." I said.
"No you're not." Carrie said, going over to the kitchen and plucking a rather sharp looking knife from the countertop.
"But the prophecy said..." Odessa trailed off, looking confused. Carrie came towards me with the knife.
"Oh no, this one here is a full blooded witch." She said, patting my cheek before grabbing my hand and holding it out, palm up.
"But then why did it say that I was human?" I asked.
"When your mother saw your power and your potential she cast a spell on you, binding your powers." Carrie exclaimed, cutting me with the knife slightly, making me flinch in response.
As I examined the cut Carrie stood back and smiled. After a few seconds a golden airy cloud billowed up from my hand. It felt like a heavy burden had been lifted from my shoulders and next I was feeling energetic and powerful as ever.
"Callie, your hair!" Odessa exclaimed. I looked down at my mouse brown hair and was surprised to see a dark black streak running through it.
"What is this?" I asked, looking up at Carrie.
"It's the mark of a high witch." Carrie said, touching my hair streak lightly.
"But why is Clara only a half of a witch?" I asked.
"I don't know." Carrie replied. As I ran my fingers through my new strand my brain filled with knowledge of spells that I had picked up without realizing it.
I looked at her confidently. "I know what to do." I said firmly. Clara smirked, "Let's go kick some vampire butt." She said, her bracelet beginning to beep uncontrollably before it stopped completely.
"Come out; come out, wherever you are!" Lenon barked tauntingly. Clara took one more deep breath before opening the door and slipping out. I motioned for Odessa, Brennen, and Carrie to get behind the couch and they happily obliged. I peered through the front window and saw Clara standing in front of Lukas and Lenon.
Clara's Point of View:
"Do you give up?" Lenon sneered.
"Not in the slightest." I shot back, placing a hand on my hip. I heard the piece of paper crunch slightly in my pocket.
