Kinsley

"I think it's this way," she says pointing north-west.

"You think?" Daniel growls. "I thought you said you knew where you were going."

"I had a lot on my mind the last time I flew here." And a lot after.

He snorts and lands on a wide branch. "Great. I'm following someone who doesn't even know where she's going." Annoyance is dripping from his words. "For all I know, you could be stalling, waiting for your troops to come." His hand inches for his sword.

She rolls her eyes. "Oh, relax. I don't have troops anymore, and I am almost certain that we're going the right way, so let's go."

Daniel hesitates, then spreads his white wings.

It's still strange to so regularly see white wings. For years it was drilled into her brain that she should want to rip off those wings, but now, as she's staring at Daniel's, she's mesmerized. They aren't just white; the tips of his feathers are a dark brown, espresso, just as his hair.

Daniel smirks. "Are you going to stare at me or are we going to find this house?"

Kinsley snarls and starts heading in the direction that may or may not be to Payton Slayter's house.

"There, you see that suburb?" Kinsley points ahead.

Daniel snorts. "You mean that dump of houses?"

"That's where the house is." Kinsley's stomach fills with guilt and worry. "They're probably already there, so brace yourself for a bad reaction."

"I don't have to brace myself for anything. You're the Dark Angel."

Kinsley glances at him. They're flying side by side, his wing tips almost touch hers as they bank to keep in the current. His eyes lay dead on the crowd of houses ahead.

"Some of them are outside," he says, drawing Kinsley's attention back to the ground. "Miss Cooper is there."

Good. She hasn't gone inside. And if Iris isn't in the house, Payton will most definitely be outside as well.

"You should land in the forest behind, I'll bring you in." He angles his body to dive, but Kinsley taps her wing on his and she pulls to a stop.

"They know me better than they know you. Why don't you wait in the forest for my call?"

Daniel flies in front of her and glares with his dark eyes. "You're a Dark Angel, and that will be the first thing they see when you fly up to them. They'll alert the others which might bring attention to them." He turns his head to the suburb. "Davis is down there anyways. He'll recognize me, no doubt." He snaps back to her." You bring risk, and I don't take chances."

Kinsley stares at him for a few seconds, then nods reluctantly. "Fine."

He doesn't nod back to confirm, he angles himself and dives.

She circles back and drops into the forest a mile back. She lands and runs closer to the house, hiding in the trees waiting for Daniel.

Charles Mooley is leaning against a clothesline pole staring at the house worryingly. Iris is quietly talking with Payton who looks like she's about to run through the door sword slashing.

Aiden is the only one standing alert. His eyes are constantly flipping from the sky to the forest, to Iris. They linger on the red-haired White Angel for a few seconds before going to the sky again.

"Hey." Aiden turns back to the others. "We've got company."

Charlie kicks off the pole and unsheathes his sword.
