"Are you mad?! I made it clear that the Poritzo shipment was to be there by Tuesday not Wednesday! Do you know what this could cost me? No? Of course not. Now either you make sure my shipment is there by Tuesday or I'll start making calls." With that I hung up and left my apartment to go to my office.
After completing my training and studies my dad passed me down the company, he saw that I had what it takes to rule the company. As my father thought, my first year wasn't easy, it was hell. I had people laugh in my face, hang up the phone on me, hell even one person sent a doctor to check up on me to see if I was okay, so stupid and immature. That was the last straw, I saw how truly despicable these people were, not that I didn't see it while training but when you're head of the company and get that disrespect it wakes you the hell up. I was done with being treated that way and changed my tactics. Let's just say that anyone who didn't treat me with the respect I deserved in my company was out my building in a second and fleeing, it's funny seeing some of their scared faces.
I began to cut ties with some of our partners, vendors, and distributors. To say my dad was furious is an understatement, but I had a plan behind that. I started making deals with other companies stationed out of the country and even some smaller companies in the states; I made sure I knew what I was getting in. I practically knew all about their company before approaching them, that intimidated them and I used that to my advantage. Turning to these companies was a good choice, it was better than the ones I cut out and that was supposed to be temporary.
The plan was supposed to be to gain recognition, more power and money with new companies, then the one's I cut out would come back with an even better proposition, which did happen. However, the new plans I have with my new partners are doing me so much better than any of the propositions I was given. I was baffled.
My company's headquarters is in the Big Apple, I couldn't be any more happier. New York City is my home; well it always felt like home to me. I was born in Mexico but raised in the states, specifically Florida.
When I turned 16 my dad's company expanded from Florida and set up an office in New York, he was flying from FL to NY constantly. Finally when I was 18 and made the deal with my dad about being head of the company, we decided it was best if my family moved to New York. My mom wasn't exactly pleased leaving our home of 17 years but also wanted to leave behind some of the memories that house brought us. I got my studies done in NYU and now here we are.
I stand outside my company's building feeling prouder than ever about my success, as well as my dad's before mine.
I am greeted by my employees and assistant as I walk in the building and later my office.
"Miss Alarice, meeting room 4 is ready for everyone to enter. Your father got here 5 minutes ago." My assistant, Tilly, informs me. "Also, your meeting Mr. Valdez will be right after this meeting. The lunch will be two hours later, not sure why but it is."
"You know better Tilly than to let those men sit outside and wait for the meeting room to be opened without my permission. Go let them in, I'll be there shortly." I remind her while pulling my hair in a bun and putting on my glasses.
Tilly has been around and putting up with me for 3 years now. After my first year with my assistant, Julia, I realized she wasn't much help and even dragged me down so I fired her. The next two years I was personally interviewing all prospect assistants, after firing dozens of them Tilly showed up, a petite redhead that is shorter than my 5'6 height. She is not only my assistant but also a good friend, we have movie nights every other Friday night.
