"Of all the people your father has at his company, he sends you!" I sneer at him.Christopher looks at me with pleading eyes then slowly opens his mouth to respond to me but I cut him off before has the chance.
"You know what? I don't care anymore, just fix the problem then please leave my building." I leave the room and walk off to my office, slamming the door close as I enter.
What the hell is Mr. Nelson playing at right now? He knows for sure I can't stand being around Christopher, let alone work with him. He has caused me so much pain in the past that it took me until we broke up to realize that he wasn't worth it but I am, my worth is so much more than what Christopher could give me credit. Nelson knows about the majority of our relationship, why the fuck would he send him!? What game is he playing at here? I guess that's the business world, right?!
I stop pacing around my office then let out a frustrated cry.
"Alarice, sweetheart, please. We need to talk." I turn around and face Christopher, my ex-boyfriend of 3 years.
"Suppose you're right, maybe we can do this another time when you're not on the job. So, how about-"
"No! We're talking about this now. You've been avoiding the situation for so long, Alarice!" He raises his voice in frustration but his eyes still holding some softness to them.
"That's where you're wrong, I'm avoiding the pathetic excuse of a man you are!"
"Sweetheart, I've apologized a thousand times for what I did. I never meant for it to happen..." Christopher trails off as he casts his head down, avoiding any eye contact with me.
"Don't call me that! What didn't you mean to happen? Hm? Was it when you slept with my damn assistant, Julia, behind my back for one fucking year? Or was it when you smacked me so hard it landed me on the floor after bringing up Gustavo's death in my face again?" I remind him of the truth and he flinches at my words. He can't even face me, let alone answer me. He just stands there with a hurt and sour expression on his face, looking anywhere but where I am.
Julia didn't get fired because she slept with my boyfriend, oh no, she got fired because she was incompetent and failed miserably at being my fucking assistant. The only thing she's good at is messing up relationships and coming up with stupid ideas that could have easily sunken my company. She's been out to destroy me ever since I fired her and declined her plead of investing into her "up and coming company." Julia thought she could have fooled me with her "company" idea when in reality that was just a plan to suck me into something that was bound to fail and take my money away.
She thought that by coming up to me after month of the truth being unveiled that I wouldn't act professional and would have lashed out before even hearing her proposal. But of course, with her being incompetent, she didn't know that I can act professional, and that easily got under her skin. I haven't heard from her in quite the time, it's best it stays like that.
"Answer me Christopher!" I spit out his name fast like if it was venom in my mouth, disgusted with him and outraged at how he still has the nerves to approach me so calmly after all he has done to me, as if he was the victim and not me.
"I-I never meant it. Sweetheart, you have to believe that I regret-,"
I interrupt him for the second time again, waving my hands in front of me in a 'x' figure. "Para, I told you not call me that! And believe what Christopher? That you regret going behind my back? Or for laying a hand on me?"
