I quietly walked back to the Master's building. It was oddly quiet; there was no laughing and talking, no one walking around outside. Everyone was either dead or hiding still. It felt odd being the only one walking around. I shuddered and sped up. If that man came back, I especially was dead.

I tried not to think about it, but it was difficult to push the thought out of my head. I kept conjuring up bullshit scenarios in my head of how they would kill me. It made me nervous and caused my breathing to speed up.

I held my breath as I started to get closer to the throneroom. I didn't know if anyone had been left behind to make sure I hadn't been lying. I peeked into the room. It was empty. I barely trusted it, but I walked into the doorway anyway. I braced myself for someone to jump down and hold me at sword or gunpoint. I scolded myself for having so much anxiety. No one was in this room.

I sighed and a little walked farther into the room. It was large and had marble pillars supporting the roof. The floor was marble with a red carpet running up the center of the room to a throne that was atop a five step staircase. I felt so trivial and irrelevant standing in the doorway of the room.

I was suddenly hesitant to go inside. I would probably get in trouble for coming in here. I growled to myself and shook my head. It doesn't matter. I'm only trying to help, that couldn't be a reason to be punished.

I walked inside, taking a full glance around the room. Once I finished, I tried to call out, but my voice only allowed me a whisper. "Genji..?"

I didn't know why I expected a responce. I sighed and walked toward the throne. I made sure to stay off the carpet. I looked to the right of it. There was nothing there, and nothing on the left side either. I groaned. I had gotten rid of the soldiers; maybe they actually did go somewhere else to hide. Hopefully it wasn't the arcade. I doubted it; if the Shimada clan walked into the arcade everyone would bolt and give their position away immediately.

Natalie's voice suddenly sounded, making me jump. "Y/n...?" she asked carefully. "Are you okay?"

I blinked, inhaled and turned. "Yes," I replied, "I am. I just have no clue where the Masters went."

"I'm sure they'll be back soon. Everyone is starting to come out of their hiding spots. I suggest you get out of here before someone sees you," Natalie said.

I nodded. "Thank you for coming to get me," I said, running toward the door. I exited and walked back to the kitchen, Natalie at my side. "I'm sure we'll be the last people to know when they're back," I muttered as I pushed the door open. I froze as I pushed it.

"What?" Natalie asked.

"I forgot about Jay," I gasped. "I-I have to go see if he's still alive!"

I immediately sprinted toward the room where Jay had been left by the man. I had completely forgotten about him during the small scuffle and my desperate attempts to keep Natalie away from harm, at least physically. I didn't know how I'd forgot; he was right there.

I slowed down as I approached the room, walking calmly into the room. My stomach flipped and heart wrenched as I struggled to keep my eyes on him. The blood was still wet around his neck wound, and he was definitely dead. I gulped and looked at the wall. My eyes had started to water now. Jay was one of my closer friends.

"Y/n?" I heard a voice behind me. I jumped and turned, blinking, trying to suppress my tears. My stomach jumped. It was Genji. He looked from Jay's body to me. He tilted his head.

"Y-You're back?" I asked, trying to keep my voice from wavering. I knew that he wasn't going to be convinced I wasn't crying from that, because my eyes were watering even more now.

"What's wr- wait, I know exactly what's wrong. Did the-" he started.

I nodded frantically, covering my face and inhaling as I began to cry. I turned around and wiped my eyes, trying to shield my face from Genji's view.

"Y/n-" Genji whispered. "It's not your fault." He walked up mext to me and put an arm around me.

At that moment, I heard Natalie's voice. "Y/n, Shimoa is-" she started. She stopped talking as soon as she spotted Genji and me. She inhaled. "Sorry, I'll tell her you'll be right there-" She hurried off.

I wiped my eyes on my sleeve and looked down at Jay. He had been a good friend; waking me up for my benefit when he should have been working for his own benefit. I was always able to tell him anything; he would never speak a word. He had been the first one to talk to me after I was taken. He made me feel like I could actually live in these conditions.

Genji sighed and looked at me. "We should get this cleaned up," he said. "I'm sure he wasn't the only one."

I nodded and breathed in and out, trying to calm myself. At least he was free now.

Genji escorted me out of the room. "You go clean up and come back out whe you're ready. Father will understand," he said, giving me a smile filled with pity and empathy.

I inhaled again shakily and nodded. I turned around and walked to my room, sitting down on my bed. I closed my eyes and placed my face in my hands for a few minutes, gathering my thoughts.
