The entrance to the loop was situated in a waterfall, not the easiest place to get to, and very dangerous. It was perfect for deterring visitors and had Miss Peregrine not felt like there was an urgent need for her to visit her friend and fellow ymbryne, Miss Eagle, then she would not have risked the journey. But this was important, the peculiars who lived here had talents that were a rarity, even in peculiardom, and they needed all the help they could get.

But to Jacob, as he stood on the top deck on the ship in between Enoch and Emma, there was something not quite right about the loop, it was practically deserted, there were no people around, and as they neared a rotted old pier and the huge house came into view, still no one was seen. The house itself took all thought away from the boy's mind as he started at it in wonder, the building seemed unreal. A huge Victorian-style mansion with two tall towers at either side of the house. One seemed cloaked in darkness, the other bathed in a pink light, but it was the stone porch that was the real eye-catcher. Built from a smooth marble, the porch was something taken straight out of history, it was oddly welcoming, and made you wonder exactly what the rest of the house looked like, and whether or not it was disappointing compared to the alluring exterior.

"What do you think they're like?" Emma pondered as she too stared at the house in amazement, it held a lot more grandeur then the house they previously stayed in, the house in which they used to live in.

"I heard some of them are nearly two hundred years old." Milliard's voice appeared out of thin air, causing the three to jump, the invisible boy was dressed, at least, but that didn't always make him completely unmissable.

"Impossible." Enoch said sullenly, they all looked at him in surprise.

"Enoch, you're 118, it most certainly is not impossible." Milliard argued, causing the dead-riser to sigh inexplicably loudly.

"I understand one person surviving that long, but more than one, they must have lost some over the years, Hollows would have got them." Enoch explained.

"True as that may be, we must ask them for their secret to staying alive, and the tales they would be able to tell..." Milliard trailed off, disappearing off somewhere as Miss Peregrine walked over to the three.

"We will be leaving the ship soon, be ready, have you any idea where Horace may be?" The ymbryne asked, all three shook their heads. "Very well, do not forget to be kind to our hosts." With that the ymbryne was off to gather the rest of her charges and Jacob hit both Emma and Enoch in excitement as the door to the house opened, revealing a tall woman, with dark hair streaked with grey, this was their host, Miss Eagle.

"She does not look happy at our arrival." Enoch mused, causing Emma and Jacob to look at him.

"She's probably concerned as to why all her charges are nowhere to be seen." Emma answered, guessing a logical reason.

"Or she did not expect us to be arriving by boat." Jacob added, using the simplest explanation, and the most correct one. Both the other peculiars nodded their agreement, he was right, as they would later found out, but one of the others was also right, not that they would find out about that.
