"What's wrong?" Jeanette asked as a worried and flustered Horace ran over to her.

"I saw him Jenny, Ethan took him. He was trying to get back to us." Horace told her, Enoch nodded his confirmation that Horace had dreamed of Josef, due to him screaming the boy's name.

"We must stick together, if we stay far from the group we shall surely be in trouble." Jeanette mused dramatically, Enoch laughed lightly.

"He's getting desperate." He added completely seriously.

"Who do you think is next?" Horace thought aloud, they all looked towards Leo, who was deep in conversation.

"Morning." They all turned to see a rather cheery Cameron, who frowned at once at their serious expressions. "What?"

"Where's Nathan?" Jeanette asked suddenly.

"With Casper, Alice and Olive, Millards reading them a story from tales of the peculiar." Cameron shrugged, then he frowned. "Why?"

The three looked at each other, before Horace spoke. "I saw Ethan take Josef last night."

"As in kidnap?" Cameron asked, Horace nodded slowly. "Oh my God."

"He's never going to be our Ethan again." Jeanette announced, looking down cast, Enoch tentativly put his arm around her in an act of comfort. She leaned her head against his shoulder.

"This is not just a right, this is the begginging of a war." Cameron agreed with a sigh.

"Should we perhaps inform Emma and Jacob?" Whilst not feeling particularly safe with not being the leader, Jeanette respected their authority and went along with them to avoid tension.

"No, they could do something risky." Horace answered at once. " I don't want Josef in anymore danger then he already is."

"Is he in a lot of danger?" Jeanette inquired, she like most of the others, cared for the boy.

"I beleive so, yes. I dreamed him in a cell, he was weak and freezing." Horace looked deeply troubled. "I know that this comes after his meeting with Ethan."

"We must Hurry." Jeanette declared, the others nodded their agreement.

It was then that they were unexpectedly joined by Hugh.

"Hey Hugh." Horace greeted him, so the others wouldn't have to have an awkward conversation with him.

"I don't suppose you've dreamy about Fiona, have you?" He asked, Horace shook his head.

"I'm afraid not." He answered, Hugh sighed.

"We've all lost people, but gained them also." Jeanette said wisely. "I'm sure she will be fine."

"Thanks." Hugh smiled sadly and then sighed, before joining Millard.

"We're walking into a war we can't win." Jeanette whispered, Enoch linked his hand with hers, and squeezed her hand comfortingly.

"It's going to be the worst We've ever faced." Cameron agreed with a frown.

"I'll tell Jacob I dreamed a hollow was following us and we had better move on." Horace said craftily. Jeanette smiled at him as he left, finding his slyness amusing.

They left less then twenty minutes later. Back to walking through the woods, but Jeanette was noticbly more on edge, a thing which Leo noticed at once.

"Not scared of a hollow are you?" He teased her lightly, she just shook her head. "Jenny what's wrong?"

"I fear Ethan may return." She answered, Leo sighed.

"I feel the same way." He admitted. It's like he's always in the back of my mind, telling me he's winning."

"Leo, Horace saw him kidnap Josef last night." Jeanette whispered. Leo but his lip and unexpectedly grabbed her hand.

"He's coming for us, isn't he." He whispered. She nodded.

"Maybe, but we'll be ready when he does." She answered. "Don't worry Leo."

"I'm so scared." He murmured. She smiled weakly at him.

"We all are."

the edge of the forest led to a tree-lined road that seemed to go on forever in one direction and to the sea in the other.

It had taken a few hours to get there and the entire group was longing for something to eat, unfortunately there was nothing for them to eat.

"Come on, we'll take a break soon." Jacob encouraged them, earning glares from Miss Eagles peculiars and half-hearted smiles from Miss Peregrines.

They trooped on, until Jeanette heard Aimee call her name. She stopped and walked over to the girl, who was struggling to help Stephan to keep going. "He can't carry on." She said, her face creased with worry.

"What ails you Stephan?" Jeanette asked the boy gently.

"I need to sit down." He mumbled. She smiled sadly.

"Alas, we cannot, I'm sure you are able to carry on with the help of Aimee and myself?" She asked, he nodded slowly and she and Aimee supported his weight as they followed the group.

They walked for another hour, until they stopped at a small park, which was empty. The weary group relished in the break, and although they wanted to carry on some more, thry had to stop.

The little ones began to play on the park equipment, whilst the older ones sat and chatted.

"Jenny, there isn't a hollow following us." Stephan muttered, He, Aimee and Horace were sat with the girl and Enoch in the corner of the park.

"We were concerned Ethan might be trying to find us, so we told them something to get us to move the group." Jeanette explained.

"Crafty." Aimee laughed. She had Stephan leaning against her side, her arm across his chest.

"It was Horaces idea." Jeanette smiled at the blonde, who laughed.

"I didn't think it would work, seeing as Jacob can see them." He told them, hey laughed.

"Well he's a bit stupid." Enoch mumbled. Jeanette laughed.

"He goes along with her because he's in love Enoch." She told him.

"Exactly." Enoch laughed. "Emma's not always right."

"Oh Enoch, you grumpy soul." Jeanette laughed, he pulled a face at her, causing her to laugh louder and the others to join in.

The group decided to stay in the park for the night, picking the blackberries that grew in the hedges that surrounded the park for food.

Little did they know, they were being watched the entire time.
