He pushed himself up through the trap door and turned to help me out afterwards. Once I was out he stepped aside to let me by and I walked past him. Afterwards I turned and looked at him, he crouched down and locked the trap door back up, stepping out of the cuppoard and closing the cabinet doors. I followed him back to the living room where he sat back down on the couch. The light color was easily stained by the blood that soaked his clothes and dripped from his fingertips. He didn't even bother.
"Vincecho...?" I mumbled, sitting next to him, turning my body, and my attention, towards him. He wouldn't even look at me. He had a facial expression stuck between sad and ittiritated and it was a little confusing. "What.....what did you do to get in so much trouble?" I questioned him for the second time. He'd said he'd tell me another time, and I wanted answers now. I wanted to hear it from his mouth, I still refused to believe he'd hurt someone, even though I had seen him just moments before not just hurt someone, but kill them.
His face contorted into a bit of a cringe when I said that, his nose scrunched up and he bared his teeth a little. "You'd think by now you would have caught on." he muttered, the words barely escaping his clenched teeth.
"I...Vincecho...." I looked at my feet, "tell me anyways." I nearly begged him.
He wouldn't smirk or snicker, nothing showed that he was happy about anything, not even the slightest bit amused, and it was a little frightening considering he normally always was. "I hurt some people, Alex." He said calmly, looking up at me, his eyes catching my gaze. Oh, those lovely, golden eyes of his. Once lively and sparkling, now dull and full of worry and sadness. I returned his glare. "I killed two others before her, and they want me dead because of it. I can't die, Alex. Don't you know how upset Remmi would be? I talked to her more than anyone, can you imagine if one day I just...dissapeared? I know I did some bad things but I'm sorry. There's no turning back, what more am I to do?" He asked me, but I had no answer. I just looked at him sadly.
"Vincecho, I'm sorry." I stated, my voice cracking.
"Don't apologize, love. You did nothing wrong." he responded, looking at his hands, his blood stained hands that still trembled. I looked at them shake, and I watched droplets of blood cascade to the floor.
"Why did you bring me here?" I asked him. I had asked him before, but maybe his response had changed? He let out a throaty laugh under his breath, low and cautious.
"I was going to use you and your powers to...." his voice trailed off but I knew what he was going to say. He was going to use me to detroy millions. He put his hand on his face, almost like a facepalm, but not quite. He laughed again, but it was full of sorrow. Another tear streaked down his face, and I brushed it off with my thumb. For once, he was the one leaning into my touch. I pulled my hand away and he looked at me with dread, like he'd done something wrong.
"I know you don't love me, dear, but...I-I know I was going to use you and I....I..." He couldn't manage his words. You were listening closely, tilting your head just the slightest. "I understand if you want to leave." He finally muttered out, his voice no more than a whisper in the silence of the night.
"W-what? No." You replied in suprise. You didn't want to leave him. You didn't ever want to leave him. You loved him. You almost gasped at your own realization. 'about time.' something in your mind stated.
"Why....Why not?" he questioned you, looking up at you in misery.
"Why would I? Just because you ki....Just because you hurt someone doesn't mean I'll want to leave you. Vincecho, we all make mistakes it's fine I-" he cut you off before you could finish.
"It's not fine, Alex! We don't all kill people! I was going to use you! For Echo's sake, I practically already did! I treated you like a toy but...but you're so much more, Alex." he said more than he probably intended.
"Vincecho, I don't want to leave you. I won't leave until you tell me to." you basically promised yourself that.
"Love, I'll never tell you to go." he swore.
"Than I won't." I stated purposefully, now realizing that my hands were grabbing at his collar and his face was only inches from mine, his eyes staring me down with a face I knew better than any other. My eyes widened slightly as I noticed everything going on around me. His worried eyes had converted back into the ones I remembered.
He stared at me cooly, that smirk crawling back onto his lips. "Trying to steal another kiss, are we?" he asked me, his velvet soft voice returning. Not that it had ever really left.
"N-no!" I jerked my hands away but his crooked smile never faded, "No...but...I-I wouldn't mind." you flashed him a smile. His smirk grew wider.
"Is that right?" he cooed. I semi-nodded. "Finally stopped avoiding the inevitable, huh?". I nodded again, embarrassed, really. He continued to sneer as he glared at you.
"I...I guess....Vincecho I....I think I love you....?" you literally just asked him that. You literally. Just. Asked. Oh goodness. The entire time you had this stupid, nervous smile, scared that what you might say may or may not be true. His smile grew, that crooked smile of his. His oversized canines gleaming in the moonlight streaming through the glass wall.
His eyes widened a moment in astonishment, as if he hadn't known. "Y-you're not lying?" he asked, tilting his head. You shook your head 'no' in repsonse. He smiled and laughed a little.
"Ha! I...." he sighed, "I love you too, Alex." he smiled, you just smiled cautiously back. "I'm sorry I tried to use you, I'm sorry I hurt those people, I'm sorry I made you uncomfortable, and I'm sorry I never told you, but it doesn't matter anymore, okay? We're just going to....going to wait it out, okay?" he asked. Well, that was confusing.
"Wait what out?" you questioned him.
"Death, love. This is the dreamscape, we won't age, I never have, but that doesn't mean they won't still come for us. They'll find me and kill me one of these days, but forget that, we'll just wait it out." he mumbled, his smirk fading slightly.
"Don't say that I...I won't let them." You responded, "I'll-" your voice was stopped by another pair of lips pressed firmly onto yours.
He pulled away to look at you, you were flustered. "Shhh....forget it." He gave you that crooked smile.
