Chapter 2.

Sunday morning Grace decided to go over to Anne to see if she can help with anything before Jim came home that afternoon. Even if she could just keep the twins busy she knew that would help too. Locking her door behind her she walks past the empty apartment next to her wondering when there will finally move a new tenant in. Her neighbour moved about two months ago and still no one even came to look at the apartment. Shrugging she walks past and knock on the front door of Anne's apartment. Children's muffled laughter could be heard through the door as she waited for Anne to open the door.
"Hey, girl." Anne greeted as she opened the door. Smiling brightly she showed Grace in.
"Morning, you are a cheerful bunch this morning." Grace smiled.
"Daddy's coming home, daddy's coming home!" The twins cheered excitedly.
"Breakfast is almost done and then I need to go to the store. Can the twins please stay with you while I go to the store?" Anne asks with a pleading look on her face. The twins can be a real handful inside a supermarket if you are only one person.
"Of course that is why I'm here. To come and see what I can do to help." Grace said.
"I thought you only came for the food." Anne joked. Knowing she could always count on Grace.

"Tag, you're it!" Jimmy yelled after touching Jane one her shoulder.
"No! No playing tag inside the house Jimmy! You know the rules. No running." Grace scolded at Jimmy.
Today was one of his hyper days much like the one when they met. Jimmy sometimes gets like a bouncy ball bouncing off the walls. Truth is he can be a handful most days.
Jane is more timid and reserved, but only when she gets her way. If she doesn't, well, let's just say even a drama queen on steroids has nothing on her.
Suddenly the doorbell rings and Jimmy sprints off straight to the door trying to reach the door knob.
"No, Jimmy opening the front door is for adults to do." Grace chastised again.
"Like sex?" Jimmy asked just as Grace opened the door.
"Jimmy!" Grace yelled out shockingly. A beet red faced Grace shyly placed a piece of hair behind her ear. "um... uh, sor... sorry about um that. Um..." She stammered before she looked up at the person standing in front of her.
"It's ... it's okay." Jake spattered trying to hold his laugh, but the look on Grace's face was just too much.
"Uncle Jake!" Jimmy yelled as he jumped into Jake's arms.
"Hi, buddy! How is my favourite nephew?" Jake asked smiling at a beaming Jimmy.
"um... excuse me... um... who are you?" Grace asked unsure while looking at Jake questioningly.
"Hi, Grace. This rude kid is my brother and our new neighbour, Jake." Jim said moving out from behind his brother. He really needs to teach his son not to repeat what his uncle teaches him.
"I'm not a rude." Jake said plainly just as Grace asked confused: "Neighbour?" and Jane yelled excitedly: "Daddy!"
Letting the men into the apartment, Grace took a good look at the two brothers. Jake was tall, fit build, a chiselled jaw and a straight nose with just a slight bump in the middle. If she really had to admit it he was sexy as hell. Jim was slightly bigger build then Jake, but Jake was taller. They had the same blond hair, but the eyes where different. Jake had ice blue eyes that looked like they can see through you, where Jim's eye's looked like deep pools of water darker and way more inviting to look at.

After asking if the men wanted anything to drink Grace decided to hide out in the kitchen until Anne came back. Keeping herself busy making lunch.
"Jimmy just had to embarrass me again. If only I can catch the mother trucker that teaches him stuff that five year olds definitely should not know. I'll... I'll... ugh!" Grace mumbled to herself, while she cut some tomatoes for the salad she is preparing for lunch.
"You'll what?" a husky voice suddenly whispered in Grace's ear, tracing the rim of her ear with his nose.
Startled Grace drops the knife and steps back right into Jake. Her elbow connects with his rock hard abs catching him by surprise, knocking out his air.
"Sor... Sorry!" Grace stammered again looking down at a wheezing Jake. "It's a reflex." She adds apologetically.
"Jeez, what was that for?" Jakes huffs out standing up.
"You startled me and invaded my space!" Grace defended.
"Man, am I glad I'm not your boyfriend. Guess that's why you're still a virgin?" Jake retorts.
"What? I'm not a virgin?" Grace asked shocked.
"Your face when Jimmy said like sex." He teased.
"Whatever! You can't tell that by my facial expression." Grace defended again, wishing this conversation never took place. Grace is not a prude, but taking about her virginity or how she lost it made her really uncomfortable, especially if it's to a stranger.
"Prove you are not a virgin then." Jake said triumphantly.
"How do you suppose I do that?" Grace asked with a frown. She did not like where this was going.
"Sleep with me." Jake said with a smirk on his face. As if he won something he knew he would.
"Oh, hell no!" Grace yelled enraged. "Really? Do I look like some type of slut to you? There is no way I will ever sleep with the likes of you! You...! You..! " She stormed out the kitchen, past a flabbergasted Jim and out the door.

"He just had to use the three words I despise most in this world, didn't he? The arrogant bastard! Just because you're sexy as hell does not mean every girl will fall at your feet! I should have knocked his head in with the chopping board and put his manhood in a blender!" Grace vented all the way to her apartment. She did not want to remember that particular incident with those exact words. "On high!" She yelled while struggled with the lock on her apartment door. "ugh!" She let out frustrated kicking the door.

An amused chuckle drew her attention to the very person of her frustration. If looks could kill Jake would be six feet under by now. Eventually the door opened and Grace stormed in, slamming the door shut as hard as she could.
