Chapter 6.

All three of them walked down the street to the diner where Anne worked. Jake's fingers where interlaced with Grace's, they never let go of the other's hand even when they reached the diner and showed to their seats. Jake sat near the window and dragged Grace closer to him as soon as she took her seat. He held his arm around her back and she leaned into his side. To any outsider they looked like the perfect couple, madly in love, as if they can't get enough of each other's touch.
"Good afternoon, lovebirds." Liza greeted Grace and Jake, sending them a wink. Anne made sure that they knew Grace and Jake where on their way and engaged, except for the fake part. "I heard you finally popped the question last night."
"Yeah, I just could not let her get away." Jake said pressing his forehead to Grace's looking deep in her hazel eyes. The icy depths held an emotion Graze could not place. Jake wished he could make her remember him. He just wanted to know she was save with him even back then he did not want any harm to come to her. He softly pressed a small kiss on the tip of her nose and grace had that same feeling that that happened before.
"Awww. You are too cute." Liza cooed. After taking their orders Liza left to fetch their drinks. Darren felt sick to his stomach whenever he saw Jake kiss Grace.
"So, Darren now that you know that Grace is no longer available, what are you actually doing here?" Jake asked with a smirk, he could not help but to rub it in. He did not like Darren from the first word he spoke outside Grace's apartment.
"You see, Jake, not until Grace and you stand in front of the altar and the preacher said 'I now pronounce you husband and wife,' will I ever stop trying to get Grace back." Darren said with venom.
"Get it in your thick skull, I was never yours and never will be!" Grace yelled getting up from the booth and disappearing into the woman's restroom.

"Look here mate," Jake said with such intensity, that Darren felt a chill run down his spine. Never had anyone seen Jake this furious. He just could not take this jerk's bull anymore. "If you ever try to get near Grace, touch her or speak to her without my presence, I will torture you in the worst way possible until you beg for her forgiveness. I will gut you like a fish with a blunt knife until you are an inch from your life. You will suffer my wrath until you beg for mercy. This mate, is not a threat, it's a promise. You will never hurt her again and you will stop harassing her at once. Believe me I have every means to fore fill this promise to you, so back off!" Jakes eyes turned into silver pools of melted steel. His eyes were hard and you could see the intense dislike he had for Darren in them.
Jake got up and asked Liza to please check on Grace as he was worried about her. He did not want to see her cry ever again or see her hurt as much as she did seven years ago. Jake had a hunch that Darren might be the same person that hurt Grace back then, but he will give her time to tell him herself.

When Grace came out of the rest room, she looked calm and collected. Her heart fluttered when she saw Jake standing near the rest room waiting for her. He ran his hand through his hair, his facial expression showed he was tense. Getting closer to him she placed her hand on his bicep and she could feel the tenseness leave his body. He let out a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He did not like getting mad or raising his voice. It was against his nature, but he could not control his anger today.
"Thank you, again." Grace said, looking up into his stormy eyes.
"I'm sorry; I don't know why I acted like that. He just gets on my nerves. I'm sorry I put you in this awkward situation and I'm sorry if I made it worse." Grace stopped his ranting by placing her soft lips onto his. He took a few seconds to react, but when it hit him wat she is doing he enclosed her in his arms and kissed her back as if she was his lifeline.

Jake held Grace in his arms as tight as he could he wished he could keep her in his arms forever. He could not understand why he felt that way. He kissed a lot of girls before in his life even slept with a few, but never did he ever felt the need to have someone in his arms. He knew that no one could ever full her place in his arms. He did not want this kiss to end, so he slowly traced her bottom lip with his tongue asking for entrance.

She did not want him to say sorry to her anymore, but why she kissed him and not simply said stop, she did not know. When he traced her lip with his tongue she felt the electric ripples run all along her bottom lip, the butterflies in her stomach turned to fire and she wanted more, she needed more. She weaved her fingers through his soft silky snow white hair to pull him closer as she opened her mouth for his smooth wet exploring tongue. She wanted him to hold her as close as he could she felt his heart beat hammer against her own and their heart's beat became one.

Darren saw the kiss between the two of them and as if he was building a puzzle the last piece fell into place. Darren could see that there would never be a place for him in Grace's life. There could be no way that two people so perfectly fit together could ever be broken apart. To him they looked like two souls that connected and finally became one. Something inside Darren changed; the moment Jake stood up for Grace and warned him to stay away from her, he knew Grace was Jake's. He could never be that passionate about protecting the feelings of Grace, nor would he ever be able to protect her from physical danger. He even tried deliberately hurting her once. Slipping out of the booth he silently made his way out of the diner. He knew he would never bother her again.

Breaking the kiss, Grace looked into Jakes eyes as he leaned his fore head to hers. "Don't ever be sorry." It was all she said and pecked his lips again.
Jake kissed her fore head and let her out of his embrace to head back to the booth. When they took their seats they sat close to each other, Jake took her hand in his and played with her fingers. "There is something I should tell you." He said softly looking at how her hand fit perfectly in his hand.
"Go on." She said, giving him time to collect his thoughts, she waited patiently.
"I know you don't remember me, but I met you almost seven years ago. The twenty second of June to be exact." He said quietly afraid she might try to run away or cuss him out.
"It was you?" She asked, her eyes big with surprise.
"Yeah, can I ask you something?" she nodded and he continued: "Why did you just leave that night? It's been bothering me ever since." He asked, giving her a questioning look.
"I woke up in the pitch black room and did not know where I was. I panicked when I saw what happened and I just had to get out of there. I felt so ashamed for what I did." She said looking at the table she could not look him in the eyes. She felt so embarrassed, sitting next to the guy that took her virginity and she can't even remember what happened. 'What must he think of her?' She wondered and let her head down in shame.
"What do you think happened that night?" He gave her a questioning look, he can see she felt embarrassed and ashamed, but could not understand why.
"I should not have drunk those many beers. I'm so sorry, I never done anything like that before or after and never will again. I am so sorry I told you to sleep with me, please forgive me and understand that I don't blame you for sleeping with me and then leaving. It was totally my own fault." Jake lifted her chin with his free hand so he could look her in the eyes again. The sparkled with unshed tears and he knew she got it all wrong.
"Grace, baby, I did sleep with you, but that is all we ever did, sleep." He gave her a reassuring smile before he continued. "I could never have sex with someone that was too drunk to register what happened and I don't mean to offend you by that. I was just raised better than that. We went upstairs, kissed once and I could see your eyes drooping so I helped you getting dressed in my shirt so you could sleep comfortably. You asked me to stay with you and I did. I held you in my arms and we slept. After an hour I woke to go and find my friend and tell him that I would be staying the night with you. When I finally got back to the room I found my shirt neatly folded on the pillow and you were gone." Jake finished and he could see disbelieve written on Grace's face.
"You mean to say that... that ... I'm still..." she said shocked that she did not even know that nothing happened and for all these years she felt so embarrassed and guilty. "A virgin." She whispered after a while still struggling to proses the new information se got.
"I will gladly take it from you if you still want." Jake teased feeling the tension leaving the air. He was so glad she did not run away like he was afraid she would.
"Oh, hell no!" she yelled drawing attention to them and then they both noticed something: "Wait, where is Darren?" they asked in unison.
