My life was nice and perfectly normal. Before plastic ruler stepped in and nearly ruined it.

It was a bright sunny day when I proposed. I had went to the jewellery shop yesterday and spent half a day choosing the ring. Imagine! Half a day! I mean it literally. It was made of pure gold with a twinkling diamond set on top. On the way home, I'd stopped by a huge flower market and bought some red, fresh roses.

Giddy with excitement, I skipped into the park where I will meet my beloved, beautiful wooden ruler, who soon will be my future bride! Colourful birds perched on branches and sung beautifully. Looking around, I saw her sitting lonely on a bench, reading an adventure book. My heart soared and it started beating really fast. She looked up and saw me gazing at her dreamily.

"Oh!" She blushed, which made her even prettier.

"Hey darling, how are you doing today?" I gave her a kiss on the cheek.

She blushed again and stared at her toes. " I...I have to... tell you... something..." She finally managed to stutter nervously.

That was unusual of her; she was always smiling and happy. What had happened to her now? I was puzzled. Nevertheless, I wasn't going to give up. She was the only stationary I love!

" Now, now," I said, stroking her soft, silky hair. It was in a shade of hazel brown, my favourite colour.

" I have something that will definitely cheer you up," I got down on one knee," My dearest wooden ruler, you are my soul and life! Will you make me the most fortunate ruler in the world? Will you marry me?"
