Lucy’s POV
I was just talking with Madeline. She was poking and prodding me about my whole trip. Well, not my whole trip, just the boy-related parts.
“Was he cute?” She asked, her blue eyes sparkling with excitement. I don’t know why she got so excited about boys. The world may never know.
“Yep,” I replied. Looking down, I began intensely examining the concrete steps. I hoped she could take a hint that I didn’t want to talk about it. I just left him. I felt awful but I knew it wouldn’t last, in a day or two he in a different country doing the same thing to another girl. Ultimately she would be prettier and nicer to him, and he would forget all about me.
“How was your little date-y thing like?” Obviously the hint was not taken. Nodding, I mumble something that resembled the word ‘good’. Madeline then stopped pressuring with questions. I looked up and squinted into the sunlight. A familiar Irish face stood in my front yard. I couldn’t believe, he had dropped everything to come and find me in the middle of nowhere. I loved him for it
“Hi Niall,” I said, smiling into the distance. I wanted him to open up his arms, for me to run into. Then he would spin me around, and look into my eyes. But, that’s not how life works. I just stood up and smiled at him. He jogged up to me and hugged me. Looking down into my eyes he said.
“I thought I’d never see you again,” He said, I was so happy. He had pretty much summed up the last hour of my life in a sentence.
“Me neither,” I replied out loud. I could still hear Madeline trying to form a legit sentence. I could never understand how she could be so dumb-founded with these sort of things. But besides that, I smiled. That’s all I could do at that moment in time was smile.
“Hey, How about we meet at the Starbucks down the street at 5,” He said letting go of me. I nodded,
“Ya, great idea,” I said, releasing him myself. He waved walking down the street. I just stood there, smiling my face off.
“You’re Niall Horan,” Madeline yelled. She looked up at me. Her eyes were wide.
“Took you long enough,” I said. We laughed a lot. I then in the door and prepared for a very important date.
About 5 o’clock-ish
I walked into Starbucks and I heard the little bell ring. I sat down at the nearest table and sat down. I played with my phone for a little. Candy crush had become my life within the last week. The room was warm compared to the chilly outdoors. It was raining, but that was no surprise where I’m from. The sweet smell of cocoa filled the shop with the most divine feeling.
Every time the little bell rang, my eyes averted from the screen. It was either another random girl or some little kid with their mom. All of those times, my heart sank a little more. My faith in Niall had sunk to the bottom. I decided that maybe he busy and he could get here right when he wanted to. That kept me from leaving so many times. I went through that for the hour.
At around six the bell rang. A blonde Irish guy walked. I was sure it was Niall. I smiled and patted the seat next to me, until another random kid ran up to him and screamed “Dad”. That was it, I was on the verge of tears as I opened up the little wire door. I walked to shop expecting a ride back from Niall. How could I be so stupid in the first place? Things like this just don’t happen to people like me. I started cry even harder after thinking about it. And within twenty minutes I was home indulging myself with chocolate with shreds of Niall posters stuffed in the garbage can.
