I Saw Her Standing There

Chapter 5

A/N: Chapter 5 finally posted :)

JOHN POV:

 

The three of us made our way to the stairs. I accepted a cup of coke from one of the crew members and joined Ringo and George on the stage. Ringo started giggling as we came over. "Where'd Brian go off too?"

"Oh he had to do somethin' else." George replied. He kept looking over to Paul and Kerin, obviously trying to figure out what was going to happen between Paul and I. I decided I was going to try and ignore them as best as I could. It was gonna be pretty tricky if you ask me.

"Well let's get on then! Tune up and then we'll go through the set list."

I raised my eyebrows at him. "Paul, we can't practice until Brian comes back. He's got the full list of songs for us to play after all." And soon enough, in came Brian with Ed Sullivan. He was dressed in a grey suit and immediately came over to shake my hand. Then he proceeded with George, Ringo, and finally Paul.

"Nice to meet you gentleman. Are you ready? It's gonna be packed tonight!" We all shook our heads and muttered a couple of 'yeahs'. "Well do you like America?"

"Oh America's been great," Ringo replied. "Everyone's been really fantastic and the fans are really excited."

Brian had to cut in and let us know that we had to start practicing. I picked up my guitar and the others got in their places. I went over to Kerin, who was awkwardly standing off to the side.

"You don't have to just stand here!" She laughed at that but I didn't think I was being all that funny. "You can go backstage or Brian's gonna be in the seating while we practice." She agreed to sit in the audience and went over to join Brian. Brian got up from his seat to greet her and sure enough she gave him a hug instead of shaking his hand. I laughed out loud, to which everyone turned around at me. I just whispered 'that bird' and walked over back to the group. Kerin finally sat down and smoothed out her dress while Brian gave us our directions. "Alright lads, All My Loving."

"One, two, three, four!"

"Close your eyes and I'll kiss you

I took a quick glance over to Kerin. She was already looking right at me, her grin spread wide across her face. I couldn't get over the fact that she had taken a liking to Paul. I mean, girls love him sure but...I carried her up all the fucking stairs. I'm a child I know.

"All my loving, I will send to you."

We hit our last chords and Ringo hopped down from his drumset.

"Okay lads that's enough," Brian said while looking at his watch. "We need to have enough time to clear the set, and you guys can't be seen when they let the girls in here or else you'll be ripped apart."

"Oh what a lovely life we lead. Having to worry about fiends with claws." George snarked.

Brian ignored him. "I want you lads all up in the dressing room without a peep out of ya. You got it?"

"Oh lay off Brian! You expect us to spend another lifetime up there? That's crazy!" I put down my guitar and folded my arms across my chest.

"Lennon. You get you and the others up those stairs right now! And take the girl with you because she'll be attacked if she's seen 'ere."

Ringo nodded off to backstage and I let up my disapproval. We all walked off-stage and Kerin quickly hopped up the stairs to follow us. "I guess I'm being kinda a bother huh?"

"No," I added quickly. "Just a crazy day for us that's all." I started looking down at my feet. And I realized I had to ask her about what's been on my mind. "Umm Kerin?" She looked up to me, waiting patiently. Her eyes were bright and sparkling and I got lost up in them. "Look uh...I don't mean to be an ass or anything but-"

"Hey. Let's get a move on it, c'mon." Kerin grabbed for my hand and led me up the stairs. "We'll talk later. Okay John?" I nodded. "Yeah. Later." She got up on her toes and kissed my cheek. "And John...Thanks for carrying me up all these stairs." I stopped climbing to look at her. She winked at me and started running up the stairs again.
