Children of the Dark Game

Darkness

Mom went out that day and hadn't got back home and it was already 07:37 pm. I started leaving messages and calls...but no answer. I didn't get too worried because sometimes my mom would get absorbed in the shopping she was doing and would leave the mall till late.

I was busy watching Adventure time, which I was enjoying, when all of a sudden the lights went out in my complex. I got up to see if the switch tripped but as I went into the small little corridor, linking my bedroom and my bathroom to my mom's room and the lounge, when outside I saw complete darkness out of the window. It was just out of the corner of my eye when I saw this because all I was concentrating on was getting back to my tv show.

I went up to the window and looked to see if people were starting to bring out candles but I saw nothing from the house opposite me, neither the house next to it. No movement was happening in the house and I was trying my best to see into the dark brick houses but I couldn't make out anything. I unlocked my door only to see the the girl next door who is about one year older than me looking out into the distance with confusion. "Do you know what's happening?",  I asked only to get a head shake from her. "My mom was supposed to be back an hour ago, my dad too but they haven't come nor read my messages or answered my calls", she said. "I also did that with my mom but like  you, no answer", I replied. We both went down our stairs out into the road and the wind was blowing between our hair. It wasn't cold but rather comforting. I couldn't see any people, just the cars that were left deserted in their parking bays. We both agreed to go to the main gate of the complex  and to ask the guard what was happening, only to see that he wasn't  there.

Our complex was shaped like a race track that cars or horses would race on, just not as wide or long. There were houses in the middle and on the right and on the left of the main road.

We decided to run back to our houses to get our remotes for the main gate and to change into something suitable to go out and see what's was happening out side the complex...out of our reach. I put on some jeans and a long sleeve top and tied a jersey around my waste (I was wearing my pyjamas). My next door neighbor was wearing mostly the same thing just with a t-shirt. We set off up the complex road and stood in the middle of our the gate and I pressed the button to open the it. We got to the edge of the driveway to the complex and looked right and left and straight (all the ways the road led to), and we spotted a few more teens our age and somewhat older. There were boys and girls looking as confused as Jenna and I. We asked if they haven't heard from their parents like Jenna and I havent and they said they hadn't. Which was very odd. Luckily our phone services weren't down so we started calling some emergency services but all of us got a crackling, eerie sound on our phones. We decided to stop calling emergency numbers and start doing searches on the internet...only to find nothing new about this strange event.

How are you guys finding this opening chapter...quite odd that nothing new was coming up about the strange event.
Anyways I started writing this story, mainly because I was bored and I was also inspired by my boredness to do something constructive😂.
