Bucky
He walked into the very overcrowded cafeteria. It was almost a relief to be in it. Art had been uneventful and Maths, well it was Maths. A sight smile tugged upon his lips when he saw his friends' usual table. He wanted to refer to his group of friends as a gaggle but they weren't geese , last time he checked at least. He half wondered how they would react to that, being compared to geese and the other half of his attention was wondering why the hell he thought stuff like this.
"Buck." Monty greets. Monty had slight stubble growing with matched his light brown hair. Monty had a posher version of an English accent. Monty was actually a James himself. James Montgomery Falsworth. But like Bucky, he opted for a shortened version of his middle name.
"Monty, did I miss anything? The table's.. quiet..." That itself was reason to worry. Most of his friends were strangely not at the table.
Observing the table for a stupidly long amount of time he just shrugs.
Bucky sighs and sits down. That wasn't very helpful but at least he knew what the others knew.Wade practically skips over to the table once everyone was almost finished. "Hey.." He beside them with a stupid grin.
Bucky laughed slightly. "Hi, someone's happy?"
"Oh.. Yeah, I guess so." Wade stopped gawking off into space momentarily his mouth slightly open.
"Oh no." Frenchie muttered before making a completely inappropriate gesture.
"He hasn't tossed someone off Frenchie." Monty pauses before looking at Wade dead serious. "Have you?"
"God no." Wade responds.
"What's this about Wade getting someone off?" Peter Quill asks walking over to them quicker after hearing something like that.
"He's making the 'Starlord' face so we're trying to figure out what happened." Bucky explains.
Quill pauses. "What to you mean, " He uses air quotations. "The 'Starlord' face?"
"He means the same love stuck expression you make everyday." Jim fills in.
Quill watches Wade's face. "By God you're right." He grabbed Wade's hand almost worriedly. "Mate what the hell happened?"
Wade frowns. "Jesus fucking Christ! I have one bit of social interaction and you all jump down in my throat."Bucky laughs and looks away from Wade to look at the others. "Wade has a crush; if he starts wistfully sighing do not approach."
"I'm not the one Rodgers couldn't take his eyes off this morning." Wade counters. That was really all he could do, either be sarcastic and have a good counter or respond with 'your mom'. Honestly either worked.
"Because I had removed my arm.." Bucky mutters slightly unsure.
"Yeah.. that's the reason." Wade rolls his eyes.Steve wasn't looking over at him. He had no reason to after all. Wade was just trying to get under his skin. I mean yeah... Bucky had been staring at Steve but the other didn't look at him in anyway like that. After all he really had NO reason to. Steve Rodgers the punk that was friends with Tony and Natasha. Yeah Steve had no reason to be looking over at him unless perhaps he was glaring. I mean why wouldn't he be? Bucky was nothing special. He did what he could to help whoever he could; this often meant putting himself in danger. But still he was nothing special... Steve was something, something else and he was nothing. Actually, anyone outside the people he called friends who knew him would say he was what was wrong with the town. He didn't try to be. He wanted to be peaceful and balanced, he wore the clothes he did to remind himself of that. However even today he proved he still gives into his anger. See, he was nothing special.
"James, do you remember where you are?" Frenchie asks in broken English. Bucky didn't know why he asked in English, he knew French well enough.
"Yeah, I'm sat with you asshats." Bucky responds pulling himself from whatever fantasy he'd slipped into.
Wade laughs and punches Bucky in the arm. "Well get used to it! You don't have any other options.""Mister Wilson. Is there any reason for that volume?" A mostly boring voice sounds from behind them.
The entire table froze they would know that null voice of Jackassary anywhere. Howard.
Slowly, as if operating a broken roundabout, the children turn to see the teacher stood with a light sneer on his lips. Well on was a lose term because technically his pencil thin goatee might have well have been on his lips. Though seriously a toddler could've given him better facial hair.
"Sir.." Wade mutters out seeming to forget how words work while Bucky just pales to the shade of ash.
"Um.. About this morning.." Bucky starts faltering slightly as Howard smiled confidently.
"Ah yes, that." Howard folds his arms. "As much as I hate to say it... That little show, well it got you a job. Don't blow it." Howard drops a small bit of paper onto Bucky's lap before walking off briskly, playing the ' I've got something better to do ' charade.Bucky stares dumfounded by the slip of paper on his lap. A job? The Hell did Howard mean, a job? He looks over the slip this was a promise of money. Money his family needed. He could fix his room, insulate the house, maybe even get out of his town if he built up more money.
His mind was completely made up, Howard or not he was taking that job. Wade must've read his mind because he softy grabbed both of Bucky's hands. "I don't want you getting that job."
Bucky looks up at Wade. "Why not? I have time and my family needs the money."
"James there are faster ways to kill yourself than work overload." He responds seriously.
"Its hardly an overload..." Bucky mumbles going quiet.
Wade sighs. "You need more personal time as it is. Please don't do this to yourself."
"Wade I'm fine. I can do one more job... I will do one more." He already had three. One was very hush hush and the other two needed fake IDs. ( He works at a bar and a tattoo shop.) They only took up some of his evening and were on separate days, he had time.
"I'll talk to you about it tonight." Wade responds somewhat disappointedly. Bucky just bites his lip and looks up at Wade. If he was going to be told off by Wade, he was really in for a big lecture.
