A/N: so we've been inactive for about a year. Oops. We're going to try to work on this a lot more now, though, we promise.
Steve
His feet carry him to Sharon's house without him even having to think about it. He's only been to her house a few times, then she told him to not visit again because apparently her parents disliked him, though Steve thinks they seemed to get along with him pretty well the one time they met. Though she would know better, of course, he reasoned.
At first he isn't sure why exactly he's going to Sharon. Usually whenever anything worth talking about happens to him (which isn't often), Steve instantly tells Sam or Natasha. Then he realise that he's not going to Sharon's to tell her about what happened. He's going to break up with her.
How he felt when Bucky kissed him... An unexpected kiss from somebody he hardly knows felt ten times better than it ever has with Sharon, so he realises that clearly their relationship isn't working out. He hardly talks to her anymore anyway, and when he does it's dull and Sharon seems eager to escape the interaction.
He's at her door before he's organised his thoughts, and for a few minutes he just stands there, sorting through his frantic thoughts. Is he really going to do this? Is he really going to break up with his girlfriend of three years because he may have felt something with somebody he's probably never going to even speak to again? Even if he decides he wants to get closer to Bucky, there's no way Bucky will ever let Steve near him now. He's already ruined everything- of there even was anything- with Bucky, is he really going to ruin this for Sharon because of a dumb feeling?
What if it was just surprise because of how unexpected the kiss was, and nothing more than pure shock? Steve thinks, then he shakes his head in refusal. No, it was definitely something more, and even if I don't have a chance with Bucky, the right thing to do, he decides, is to end things with Sharon so she can find somebody who will feel the way about her than I clearly can't.
He raises his hand to the door and knocks, dreading what is coming next. He hopes he doesn't upset Sharon too much.
There's no answer for a long time, and Steve co spiders leaving, but then she opens the door, wearing jeans and a large black t-shirt that he can't recall ever seeing her in. It doesn't look like it's her size at all.
"Steve!" She gasps.
"Hi." He mumbles guiltily.
"Uh... What are you doing here?" She asks him, casting a quick glance behind her.
"I wanted to-"
"I'm really busy." She bites her lip. Steve nods.
"I'm sorry, I just need-"
"Didn't I tell you not to come here again?" She seems to remember. "My parents don't like you."
"Yes," He sighs."I'm sorry, Sharon, but you need to listen!" He snaps. She raises an eyebrow at him, folding her arms over her chest and leaning against to the door frame.
"Okay."Steve opens his mouth to say something (he's not sure what), but then a voice from upstairs calls
"What's the holdup?" Steve frowns.
"Who's that?"
"Uh... My dad." Sharon stammers, then turns to the staircase and shouts "It's a package for the wrong address! I'm helping them find the right house!" She turns back to Steve. "He doesn't want you here." She offers as an explanation.
"Right." Steve nods, looking at his feet in shame. "Sharon, I'm so sorry, but-""Rogers?" He looks up to see none other than Brock Rumlow standing behind Sharon, shirtless, and glaring at him.
"Rumlow?"
"What's he doing here?" He growls.
"Uh..."
"I can ask the same thing." Steve retorts, confused.
"Shit." Sharon hisses, then glances between the two before turning to Steve.
"Honey, I'm sorry, but... uh... I'm breaking up with you."
"What?"Okay, so yeah, Steve was planning on breaking up with Sharon, but at least he didn't cheat on her (pretty much, come on, that one kiss doesn't count, does it?)! That's clearly what's going on here, as proven by Brock's smug smirk as she shrugs and closes the door in his face. Steve is left, astounded and hurt, stark at the closed door for a solid two minutes, before noises he doesn't want to hear start to emit from the open bedroom window above him and he runs off, cursing himself for not believing Sam's warnings.
