Darkness spread across the forest as a certain creature dashes through the dark, moonlit night. A scream neither human nor beast can be heard that sends shivers down the inhabitants of the unknown. Everyone except for a young, red haired beauty of whom was engulfed in sorrow and an old man which has been in a cave, hearing a story of four sisters.

Beatrice's POV

Wirt hushes me by touching my lips with his finger. I was instantly paralysed as a shiver slithered down my spine. Shock hit me as I feel dark emotions flow freely from Wirts fingertips into my body, depression, loneliness, unearthly thoughts and the lingering thought of death.

I just sat there, helpless as Wirt left.

The woodsmans POV

Back before there was an unknown there was four sisters, these sisters were both similar and different to each other. They loved each other deeply and yet they bickered as most sisters do. Their names were Adelaide, Wispers, Emily and I, Amber.

Each sister wished to separate from one another due to their dreams of which they wanted to pursue. Wispers went into the forest of which snow had eternally fallen, I went to where the flowers most providently bloom, Adelaide went to the Autumn pasture and Emily stayed where she felt warmth.

We were peaceful for a while, that is until one of my sisters, Wispers created a successor through the power she had gained from the frost. Once the others found out we became jealous. Unbeknownst to us the successor was timid, but had a wicked side; the only way to control her wickedness was through a single bell. Blinded by jealousy me and Adelaide attempted to create our own successors. The only sister to stay innocent was Emily, of whom disapproved of all of this.

Adelaide failed to gain a successor, and in her attempts lost her immortality as a result. I myself succeeded but although my successor was polite on the outside he too was wicked, but also restricted by rules. Unable to break these rules he simply bided his time, waiting for the moment when he could escape from me.

I considered him my son, and named him _____. He had once been truly innocent until he saw the sins of humanity. This had corrupted him and he wished to bring the end to them.

Knowing that it would take all of us to defeat him, he ensured that we would never come to terms with each other. He turned Emily of The meadow into a stone statue forever to be a symbol of unity. As soon as this happened the Unknown was born; through our greed, envy, sorrow, love and hatred the forest of the Unknown was ultimately a symbol of what we wished to protect.

But alas due to our hearts we are unable to enter each other's domain without risking unbalance. You may have noticed how there is only two seasons, constantly at battle with each other, that is because with Adelaide dead and Emily turned to stone the only seasons of which are left are unbalanced and constantly fighting for dominance. I do not wish for either to win and neither does Wispers but it is out of our control.

"Now I must ask you this; will you go and retrieve each sacred object  from each of my sisters?" Asked Amber, "I cannot enter their domain so I cannot retrieve them myself."

"What do these sacred objects do?" I asked curious about how these objects can help me.

"They purify the wicked, break curses and bear the spirit of the seasons," she explained, "if you use it on the fusion it shall stop the chaos."

I thought about this for a second, if I find these, these relics then perhaps I can stop the boy from destroying the Unknown.

"So where are these objects?" I questioned, "if I am to go on a journey then I will surely need directions."

"You can find them through whichever one you hold," she answered calmly, "I shall grant upon you my flower, once you leave this cave with the flower spring will be overpowered. And once you take Wispers item the snow shall melt and leave only darkness."

Amber of the flowerbed (as I have grown to know her as) walks over to the flower that gained my attention all that time ago. She picks it from the soil and gentle passes it to me careful not to prick me with its thorns. I gently put it in my bag of which is on my back careful not to squish it.

"Thank you," I said as I turned away and walked out. Once I got outside the cave a cold air rushed onto my face. So it was true I thought as I trudged through The Frost, flower leading my soul closer to the next item.

Wirts POV

I woke up, covered in snow and a few twigs. Unable to remember what happened last night I simply sit up to gather my sorroundings. Everything around me blurred in and out as I tried to gather my thoughts.

Where am I?

The Unknown

Why am I here?

Cursed

Why's it snowing?

Winter...?

Even more thoughts traversed my mind until I looked up. Above me was a huge tree which the snow landed on gently, shielding me from even more coldness. I stand up and circle the tree, curious to see why it was so big. It's branches twist as if it was an Eddlewood tree but it's colour was a rich, dignified brown.

It seemed to call to me.

It called to me as if I were kin.

It looks so elegant.

So peaceful.

So childlike.

So familiar.

Don't tell me.

I quietly walk around the tree as if looking for something important. I soon come across a small hole just big enough for me to put my head inside. The first thing I saw was the pot. Then his wooden face.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey there! Did I make your heart break with that last bit? I hope so.
So this book isn't getting the views I was hoping for, which breaks MY heart. It seems that the community for Over The Garden Wall is not as big or active as STARCO or PINECEST. Oh well.
But anyways the next chapter is on it's way, and just incase I forgot to mention earlier this story will involve hints to infinite eyerolls and ultimately (hopefully) with them either in love in a Romeo and Juliet style OR happily ever after.
Welp.
Bye!
