I walked through the woods, following the sound of muffled cries, and shadows swirling in a circle leading me to the sound.Wet blood trails were left on the dead leaves and dirt.
I thought it was an animal at first but the cries sounded,to human.I hurried worryingly thinking it was a small child lost and trying to find their way home. The shadowy sphere hurried too;getting closer to the sobs,I saw multi-colors in the distance.Thinking to myself on why on earth something that colorful would be out this far in the woods, where no one comes.
I zoomed back out of my thoughts to the real world when I tripped over something.I fell hitting my head on a fallen tree.I sat back up groggily rubbing my head, the little shadow ball came rushing over to me,making sure I was okay.
I looked down and saw a bear-trap.It was closed with blood dripping off of the jagged edges.I panicked thinking that the blood were probably from that lost little kid,I jumped up startling myself, and I ran towards the sobs. The world around me caved in and started to swirl around the shadowy sphere and I.The crying increased.
I slowed down and the sphere zipped away from me.I tried chasing after it but my legs hurt and my head felt like it was spinning in circles.I slowly fell to my knees and crawled the rest of the way.The sobbing became more clear.
I made it to an opening in the woods, and saw the same colorful thing I had saw recently, but now it was more clear to make out what it was;an old jungle-gym.The swings creaked in the wind, the slide was rusted, and it was slowly caving in on its self. The blood trailed up the broken wooden stairs to the little landing.
"Hello?"I asked worriedly. The sobs died down and I panicked even more."Are you okay,I'm here, where are you,I can help you, don't worry,I'm here."I mumbled quickly and started to search around.
I followed the blood trails up the stairs and on to the landing, that's when I saw him.He was curled up in a little ball in the corner, trying to make himself look small. He looked around nine, and had blonde hair which stood up in the front.
"Hello, are you okay?"I asked, getting closer to him,and I touched his arm.He jerked up and screamed, tears stained his face red.He backed away, his back slammed into the wooden boards."Oh my gosh, are you okay!"I panicked.I startled him and he slid to the side and backed up,falling off the jungle-gym in the process.
"Oh my gosh!"I screamed and jumped off of the jungle-gym right next to him.The tears streamed down his face faster than it originally had been.He held on to his ankle, mumbling something in the process.
I grabbed ahold of his ankle and inspected it,the ankle had the same marks from the teeth on the bear-trap,the blood rushed out like a waterfall from the cuts.He cried and pushed me away;he buried his face into his knees and covered the rest of his head with his arms."No,I'm sorry, please don't cry."I mumbled, and pulled him close to me,hugging him.The sobs slowed down and I heard snores instead.I smiled, and pushed his hair out of the way so it would stop poking my face.I slowly started to dose off to when I heard something loud come out of nowhere, and the world started to cave in,and then something came running out of the distance, while shadowy figures pulled me away from him.He cried and screamed trying to get back to me,while the hideous beast grabbed his leg and dragged him off into the woods.
I shot up and looked around me,I was still on the bus;the city streets and lights from all around zipped by the windows,as the bus made its way down the busy streets."It was just a dream."I mumbled and slowly sat back down.Dried blood was on my hands, which made me feel uneasy.I grabbed a tissue and some sanitizer and wiped it off my hands the best I could.
Stop after stop;the bus became vacant all except for the bus driver and me,and the sky darkened with storm clouds."Quite a gloomy day,I say so myself."That was the first time I heard the bus driver talk."Yeah."I mumbled nervously in response. He looked up into the mirror back at me."So why you going to the airport?"He asked suspiciously."Oh,to visit a sick family member."I lied.I didn't usually lie,but something about him creeped me out.He eyed me down suspiciously once again and then turned his eyes back to the road in front of him.The bus turned a corner and we were back in the country side once again.
Rows of corn and farm animals passed by as the bus sped up on the vast road.I pulled out my iPhone and checked the time.12:56.I sighed and put it back in my satchel, while looking out the window. The airport was in the distance and a plane took off and disappeared into the cloudy skies.I grabbed my satchel and rested the strap on my shoulder.I slowly stood up and a note flew on to the ground from one of the seats in front of me.I tilted my head to the side, walked over, and picked it up.
"Beware of Jessica...."The bus driver mumbled."What?"I asked even though I heard him."Nothing he mumbled once again, and then went back to being silent, while staring back at the lonely road.I shrugged my shoulders and put the little note in my satchel.
The bus slowed to a halt out front of a gray, dull building."I'm guessing this is your stop,Kiddo."He jokingly said.I smiled nervously and walked to the front.Thanking him,I slowly started to get off the bus when he mumbled."Don't go into Forgotten Woods."He mumbled in response.I turned around to ask him what he meant but the bus had already left and was speeding down the street back towards the city, which lay alone, along the horizon.
"Yeah,cause that's what I needed today,to be scared silly."I mumbled,while walking into the building.
