Nathan's POV

Getting to The Shadows' hideout wasn't easy. There were patrols every couple of minutes. After an hour, Tommy and I got tired out, Seon doesn't have that problem since he isn't human. The lucky piece of crap. It was also getting dark. I hoped Micam was okay with every step I took. I at least hope whoever took him is careful. Since they are flying, I hope he or she holds on tightly to Micam, I will kill them myself if they hurt him, inhuman or not.

"Can....we...rest...for...a moment?" I heard Tommy say, out of breath. Seon stopped, making me run into him, and Tommy running into me.

"Oopsies!" Seon said covering his mouth with his hands. "I forgot! You guys get tired out and I don't! We can spend the night here if you want. I don't mind keeping watch all night either."

"You sure?" I said, looking at Seon. I don't want him to feel like an outcast since he isn't technically human.

"Yeah!"

"You can take first watch then. Wake me up in about two and a half hours."

"Okie, dokie, lokie!" Seon smiled as I lay my head in the grass. Tommy was shivering, it was chilly out here.

"Do you want to use my hoodie as a blanket?" I offered to her. I had a long sleeve shirt under this and her flannel wasn't covering it.

"If you say it's alright." She said taking my hoodie and falling asleep instantly. I was getting cold out here...it was a bit odd. The nights aren't usually this cold. After what felt like a few minutes of sleep, Seon shook me awake.

"Nathan!" He whispered. "We're being watched! Look up!" When I looked up, there was a figured in a black cloak with their right hand outstretched with this white-blue mist around it and us, perched in a tree. All we could see was their hand, it was too dark out. As I woke Tommy, the person lunged. They hit me in the side, the pain was unbearable. I felt like my side was being ripped out of my body, and this giant frost gave it frostbite. I fell down in immense pain. I couldn't move. When I turned my head, the person was standing over Tommy.

"No!" Was all I could get out of my mouth as the person threw her in the air and slammed her on the ground. Seon was unconscious it seemed, so nobody could help her. Tears filled my eyes as Tommy spoke.

"Find Micam for me, alright?" Then she went limp. The person chuckled. I was filled with a burning rage as adrenaline kicked in and I got up.

"You messed with the wrong group." I said and punched him in the face. I didn't care about killing him. He killed Tommy. A small flash back came over me. It was me, Micam, and Tommy running around the playground all wearing shirts that said "Wolf Creek Primary". We all had matching necklaces too. I had the right one, Micam had the middle, and Tommy had the left, it was a friendship bracelet. Tommy had long hair, Micam's was neatly combed back, and I had short hair and a missing tooth. We were playing tag, out usual game between us as we had no other friends. I accidentally tagged Tommy too hard and she fell over.

"Nathanial!" I heard a teacher scream. "Did you just hit Talula?!"

"I didn't mean to, Miss," I said. "We was playing tag. It wasn't on purpose!"

"It's alright," Tommy said, getting up. "It's all in good fun!"

"Yes," The teacher said, fuming. "But you dirtied your skirt, and you were playing with boys! Talula, you are to go to the girls' side of the playground and don't you come back now!"

Tears filled my eyes at the memory. I fought as hard as I could. I didn't care anymore.

"ENOUGH!" Boomed a voice. When I turned around, my eyes laid upon a very unpleasant sight.

Micam's POV

When I opened my eyes, I was laying on a giant leaf, surrounded by entwining branches. My head was throbbing. My back and legs ached.

"Finally you're awake," said a voice. Based on sound, it sounded like a girl. "You've been out for an hour. I was ready to leave. I'm very impatient ya'know."

When I got up and stood, I saw her. I couldn't even describe her looks. She was stunning. But before I had a chance to speak, she waved her hand and all the branches and the leaf disappeared back into the ground.

"I'm Palon by the way," she said. "And I'm flattered you think that of me but I'm not interested."

"How did-" I started.

"My three sub powers are telekinesis, mind control, and telepathy. I read your mind, Micam. Very interesting stuff I found in that head of yours."

"That's personal!"

Palon laughed and crossed her arms.

"What can I say?" She threw an apple core to the side. "I can't help it. I find a half-demon like me in the woods  passed out, and I can't help but to wonder who they are and why they got here. Yeah, I know it's nosy. I don't go into personal files. Just the basics: all about you and how you go here."

"That's still personal!" She just chuckled.

"Sorry, I won't do it again. But I need to get you to The Shadows' hideout. They'll help you." Before I could even ask, she answered my question. "We are an organization of half-demons. We've been looking for you, Micam. You're very powerful. We want you on our side. Zalzor made you think wrongly of us, but ignore him. I'll take you there. Can you fly?" She started to levitate.

"What?! No!"

"Riiiiiiiight. You haven't even discovered your full powers yet. We'll walk."

"Okay....wait. Why should I trust you?"

"'Cause I'm a pretty girl who saved your ass."

"Fair enough." And with that statement, we set off.
