Micam's POV
Dakota came out of the room with her arms spread wide. She had a smug look on her face and a confident walk. She held the door open for us all.
"Take a gander!" She exclaimed. "This may just be my favourite personal space to make like, EVER!" Her eyes were beaming, that bored look she always was wiped vanished for the time being and was replaced with excitement and pride. I felt happy for her, even if I just met her.
When Palon and I walked in, I didn't expect what my eyes laid upon. The walls were a creamy white colour, they had black speckles on them, almost like a dalmation or cow. There was three large lights hanging from the ceiling that represented clouds, they changed colours constantly. There seemed to be four rooms in the space, the whole place was about the size of a normal apartment. The place where we were standing had dark, wood floors with a darker trim. There was a small cluster of beige couches all gathered around a medium-sized television. In the midst of the couches was a wooden coffee table with a shelf underneath. To my right, there seemed to be a kitchen, but from where I was looking, I could only see a counter with four barstools in front of it. There were windows everywhere, I don't know how, but Dakota made it seem like it was broad daylight out of the windows.
"So," Dakota interrupted my thoughts. "Would you guys like the grand tour? Too bad, you're getting one! Follow me, children!" She led us to the kitchen. "Pale, sandy tiles, quartz countertops, shiny sink-"
"Why are you giving details about everything but the sink?" Palon butted in.
"Because I don't know everything about houses and crap okay?" Dakota gave a sarcastic smile. "Anyways....pantry, freezer, and fridge is all stocked with your favourite foods, Micam. It all refills whenever something spoils or it reaches a certain weight and stuff." She gestured for us to follow her to the first room.
"Take a good look, Micam," Dakota said. "Cause this is your room!" I took it all in. There was a queen sized bed in one corner with the same bedsheets I had at the Hignan's. Actually, the whole room was just like my old home! But better! Instead of a bare wall, I had a T.V.! And instead of my crappy laptop, there was a gaming PC! This is everything I have ever dreamed of and more!
"I take it you like?" Dakota smirks at me. "I'll take that a yes because of your wide eyes and gaping mouth."
I turn to her in shock. "I don't like it..." Dakota manages to let a out a weak "what?"
"I love it!" I shout. "It's amazing! Thank you, Dakota!" I hug her tight. She hesitates before hugging me back.
"Yeah..." She says. "You're welcome, kid." She rolled her eyes. "Okay okay, I get it, now please let go."
"Sorry," I sputter, letting go. "I really appreciate this, Dakota. Thank you."
She started to walk out. "Just holler at me if something breaks or whatever. Cause I can do a fixing to thingy's" She swaggered out of the room beaming, she was proud of her work.
Palon grabbed my wrist and sat me down on one of the couches. She soon followed after and sat next to me. She tapped her foot. "Okay so, we need to finish a couple things, then you have initiation!!" Her grey-blue eyes twinkled when she said it. I assumed "initiation" was a big deal then, seeing her face when she said it.
"So." I paused. "What exactly, is initiation?"
"Well." She beamed as she stood up. "I don't know how it will be for you since you're a special case, but what usually happens is you show off your powers to everybody. Then, you are knocked out and put into a special place; I don't know where it is because nobody but the leader, your mentor, and/or one extra is allowed in.
"You are given a bunch of tests to see your survival skills. It's different for everybody, but for me, I was put in a desert and was told to make a jungle. It was epic! And, if you pass, you get to stand on the Leader's Rock! Also, you get told your partner! Your partner won't be with you always, only on missions. It's usually somebody with powers that helps yours and vice-versa. We better get going if we want to get there on time, we have to be early so...C'MON!!"
She grabbed my wrist once again and pulled me out of the room, the door shutting on its own. As we made our way to the centre of the hideout, I felt something off, like there was something wrong and I had to fix it. I couldn't pin point what it was, but whatever it was, I needed to fix it.
I stopped and Palon turned to me. "What's wro-" Her eyes widened. "Your eyes! Are you okay?"
I tilt my head in confusion. "What about my eyes?" My vision goes black, and suddenly I'm seeing what Palon is seeing. My usual mahogany eyes are now darker and duller.
She gave me my vision back and put a hand on my shoulder. "Do you need to rest before we go? I can tell Asleri and she'll understand"
"No no, it's okay, I'm fine." I said.
"Well," she shrugged. "Okay then." And we set off once again, me shaking my head. I looked around me as I walked. I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. Is that?
"Nathan." I said softly, stopping in my tracks. Is it him?
Nathan's POV
I got up from the bed shaking my head. I need to get out of here. I feel trapped, I want to know what's going on."Nal?"
I turn to the head medic. "Yeah?"
"Are you doing alright? You don't look so good."
"I-I'm fine, I just feel off..."
He laughed. "It's okay, you had quite a Fall and you're still recovering. The only thing I'm concerned about is your face."
"My...face?" I turned to a mirror. I was super pale, more than usual. And my eyes, weren't a bright lilac anymore, they were really dull.
"You weren't this pale when you came in from your fall, and your eyes are dull. You sure you feel alright? What feels off?"
"I'm sure it's just me being silly. I'll come back if I feel different, okay?"
"Fine, be sure to come back though. Never second guess yourself. Have a good day, Nal."
"Okay," I said walking out of there. I took a look around. I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. It's that kid-no...is that?
"Micam..." I say out loud, staring at the boy. I find my feet making their way over to him. Is it really him? He looks so unfamiliar yet so familiar. I shake my head and stop. No, I don't know Micam do I? I feel my thoughts get all fuzzy and I walk away from him. That's not the most powerful half demon. That's just a newbie, he looks like trash anyways.
??? POV
I'm slipping away again. I can't do this anymore. I need to get out of here. I'm screaming until my throat goes numb, I'm pounding on the walls until my hands bruise. I can't do this anymore. I hate it here. I'm isolated. There's nothing but black. I want to be freed. Save me, somebody. If there's anybody out there, seeing me, please. I beg of you. Save me. Save me. Save me.~Author's Note~
