Chapter 38

Dylan

"Sir, there's a situation," Jack said.

I felt my heart immediately drop.

"Katherine?"

"No sir. It's her friend."

"Jasmine?"

"We haven't been able to contact the security team that was assigned to her. I've pulled some strings and called a few people. They found all of the men dead. A gun shot to the head. Jasmine is no where in sight."

I swallowed hard. "He's going to use her to lure her. Fuck!" I growled as worry and fear gripped me.

"Get everyone ready. We're heading back."

"Nate and his men already know what's going on. They've got the Chief in on this."

"Good. Let's get moving."

Katherine

I sat inside the car, parked outside the house where it all began, while they checked the house.

I felt cold and clammy. My knees wobbly.

"Kat?" Jules said.

"This was not a home. This was hell," I said.

A few moments later, two officers came out, shaking their heads. One of them talking on the phone.

"Stay here," Jules said, as he quickly climbed out of the car.

I frowned, as fear crept in.

Then I heard sirens and I felt the blood drain on my face.

Someone has got to be in there.

Oh god.

I quickly opened my door and got out of the car.

"Kat! No!" Jules shouted as he ordered me to get back in the car, but I ignored him. 

Then I saw the paramedics quickly moving inside the house.

"Kat. No. don't go in there," Jules said, as he wrapped his arms around me, stopping me from going inside the house.

"Let me go! Who's in there?" I demanded.

"Kat. No."

"Who's in there, damn you!"

He wouldn't say anything. He just held me, stopping me from going inside.

It felt like hours has passed when the paramedics finally came to view, carrying a gurney.

Someone was in there.

"Katherine, don't look," Jules said, but it was too late.

I saw what he didn't want me to.

I gasped and a terrifying cry sounded, as I realized who it was.

"No-oooo..." I bellowed.

"Kat..."

"Jasmine!" I screamed as I struggled to get away from Jules.
