"Hurry up!", whimpered Shadow. "You're soooo slowwww!" "Stop whining," Hazel snorted, bounding over to Shadow, the tips of her ears barely showing above the tall grass. The sound of the older wolves chuckling came from behind. "No need to rush, little ones," laughed a huge black female wolf, staring at the pups.

The large creamy white female glanced at the other wolf, smiling. "They're great friends, aren't they?", she said. The other she-wolf nodded. "They'll make a great hunting team someday- maybe even mates." They glanced at the two pups who were staring from a ways away. "Ewww!", Shadow and Hazel squealed, then ran off, laughing and yelping.

After walking for a while longer, they all stopped underneath a tree, the pups playing and the two females chatting. Suddenly the older wolves stopped, their ears perked up and their noses twitching.  The two pups stopped rolling around, sensing tension in the air. "What's wrong?", Hazel said, her eyes wide. "Bear," whispered the large creamy colored wolf. "Lay low in the grass, little pups," said the other wolf.

The two pups huddled down, snuggling together. The strong smell of grizzly bear washed over them. In what seemed like seconds, the two females were soon snarling. Soon the scent of blood was washing over the two pups, and the snarling died down.

A blundering shape started walking towards the two pups, and they huddled closer. A huge roar erupted all around them, and glistening teeth showered slobber all over the two pups. "Run!!", howled Shadow, and the two pups bolted away, their tails between their legs.

A roar sounded, and thundering paw steps rumbled behind them. The two squealed as they ran, and several minutes later they were far away, running in silence. They stopped, panting. They silently trudged onward until they reached a rocky overhang. Their paws were covered in blood, from both running and the blood that was splattered on the ground where they hid.

By then, night had fallen, and the air was chilled. Owls hooted, male wolves howled, and grunts echoed all around them. The two pups huddled together, shivering in the cold, and drifted off into sleep.

(A/N Sorry for the sad slightly morbid chapter, it won't be like this every chapter. Hope you enjoyed!
