"You've got to be kidding me" tossing another outfit to the side I let out a grumble of cuss words.
It was nine fifteen and Skeeter would be at the corrals anytime now to pick me up. Liz had gone back home for a weekend break from work since it was Friday night. Adam might be plenty happy with that but I wasn't.
Liz and me where the same when it came to never getting dressed up and looking fancy but for some reason she's always been better at it then me when needed.
Glancing to my phone on Liz's corral bed I was tempted to give her a call. Biting my lip I shook off the idea reaching for a different clothing item.
The wrangler office door gave a screeching slam making me spin on my heels. Opening the bedroom door I peeked outside to the office to find Skeeter standing at the door. His eyes locked on mine causing an easy going smile to roll onto his lips.
An off white cowboy hat dangled from his finger tips while his dressy dark brown cowboy boots sounded off towards me. Skeeter distracted me slightly as I took in my date for the evening. Skeeter cleaned up nicely with a dark pair of wrangler jeans, a belt buckle no doubt a C⚡️C buckle (canyon corral buckle), and a neatly tucked in maroon button down shirt.
Air seemed to escape my whole body as Skeeter stopped a couple inches from me. His colon wavered over to my nose making me sigh. He smelled of leather, hay and horses with what I assumed to be a bit of Tim McGraw colon. Smirking down at me Skeeter snapped my tang top's strap making me slap his hand away.
"This is what you plan on wearing? I guess I went a little over the top" Skeeter chuckled while I threw my hands up in the air.
"I have nothing. Literally when have I ever had a pile of clothes in front of me and thought I had nothing to wear....never!" I stomped off to the poor bed that was covered in all my clothes.
My face couldn't help but flush at the sight of a red lacy bra that I quickly snatched and threw under the blankets.
Again Skeeter chuckled as his eyes scanned over the bed. Standing on the opposite side of the bed then me he seemed to lay out all my options. Folding my arms across my chest I too took another look at my clothes.
"How about..."
"You sirously couldn't have found something" my voice was snippy from me spending what felt like hours staring at material.
My eyes snapped up to see Skeeter with a raised eyebrow at me. In his hands rested a purple plaid. The plaid had no buttons and was cut so it didn't need tucked in. It was one of those fancy dress up plaids that you wore a tang top under. Lucky I was wearing a black tang top that would go perfectly with the plaid.
"That could work" nodding my head skeeter tossed the material at me.
Slipping my arms into the sleeves that ended at my elbow I gave a small twirl for Skeeter. I had on my teal, white, and black beaded belt on with a pair of dark blue jeans. My Americana boots finished off my feet and a necklace of a heart made out of horse shoes sat gently against my tan skin. I felt complete.
Looking up through my eyelashes I found Skeeter watching me with a dazzling smile. Smiling my own smile I walked over to Skeeter. Wrapping my arms around his waist I pulled our bodies together.
"Thank you" I almost seemed to whisper as Skeeter's hands fell just above my dairy air.
"For what?" Brushing his thumb against my cheek bone I couldn't help but lean into his touch.
"Helping me fine something to wear to dinner" leaning my chin against his chest I stared back at Skeeter. Smiling Skeeter seemed to squeeze me a tad closer to him.
"It's just your parents you know? How bad can they be?"
