Molly's POV

It was October 30, and my friend Cara was hosting this Halloween party thing at her house. It was going to be me, Cara, Mercy, Lefty, Flick, and Spencer. We call Spencer Sponk though because it's much better. We were all pretty much best friends in and outside of school. The party was a sleepover, so all of us were definitely going to stay up all night. I really want to do some creepy things, but I'm not so sure if everybody is okay with scary things. I definitely know that Sponk doesn't like scary things, but he sucks it up because he knows just about the rest of us like scary things. One thing I'm really hoping to do is go to the old, abandoned house just up the street from Cara's house.

When I got to her house it was a little after 5. I was the last person there because I always have to be fashionably late. My mom just kind of dropped me off at her house. I didn't knock or anything, I just walked right on in. I knew her mom didn't really care because Cara and I are best friends. Everybody was upstairs and I had a great idea. Cara usually had a clown mask laying around, so I found that and put it on. I walked up the stairs and knocked on her door. Right away, I knew Cara was too lazy to answer the door, so I knew I had a better chance at scaring someone.

Sponk ended up opening the door and I yelled in his face. He screamed like a girl and ran back into the room. I took the mask off and everyone except Sponk started laughing.

"That was not funny Molly!"

"Oh, but it was," Flick said choking on her own laughter.

"Your eyebrows are scarier than the mask Spence so suck it up," Cara said, still dying. Everybody laughed even harder after that. After we finally concealed ourselves, there was a comfortable silence between all of us.

"Cara, I'm going to go steal your ice cream. I will be right back," Mercy called while going down the stairs. I look over at Cara and watch her roll her eyes dramatically.

Once Lauren gets back with ice cream for herself, neglecting her friend's ice cream needs, things get... serious. Cara retells the story of the murder in the house down the street. Sponk shivering with fear so much you can practically hear his bones rattling.

Basically, the story was about a little girl that was an only child. Apparently, her mother died when she was born. Her father was an old drunk who beat her when she didn't do as he asked. One day, the little girl's father asked her to clean up the kitchen when he was super drunk, but the girl didn't want to, so she went up to her room and played with her prized doll. Her dad was infuriated by this, so he ripped the doll out of her hands and burned it. The girl was devastated and started crying. Her dad thought that her tantrum was so annoying he started to beat her. He got so carried away, he beat her to death. When he realized what he did, he threw the girl into the well in the backyard, so nobody else saw what happened. Until this day, you can still see the remains of her doll and if you as much as lay a hand on her, you will perish the same death the girl went through.

"So, what do you dorks say?" Flick asks enthusiastically, "Let's go catch some ghosts!"

We all jumped up (Except Sponk who I had to practically carry) and grabbed our things. Lefty with her trusty video camera, Cara with her Canon Camera, and the others with small flashlights. I, of course, being the tallest, was Spencer's human shield.

Cara led the way out of the house. We walked up the street to the old abandoned house. It was super creepy at night, but so cool at the same time. It was about 8 when we got there. Sponk, being the baby he is, was still hiding behind me. Lefty and Flick went around the other side of the house to investigate a little more. Mercy was still with Sponk, Cara, and I.

The house was two stories tall and had a ton of vines and weeds growing up and around it. It looks like people were here before because there were holes in the windows the size of baseballs. The door was locked, so if we wanted to go inside we would need to find another way to get in.

Cara was super excited about this house. She was going around taking a bunch of pictures at weird angles that I didn't know existed. Mercy started singing a creepy song just to add effect and Sponk, well I think he wet himself.

"Hey guys," Cara said but was cut off by everyone else before she could get her point across.

"HEY CARAAA!!!" said the entire crew, even Flick and Lefty who were still in the backyard.

Cara rolled her eyes, "Anyway, there's a broken window over here, we can get into the house through it."
