《So the actual battle scene won't be until next chapter but I still hope you enjoy.》
I pulled my hair into a tight bun and put on my heavy armor. "You got this," I said to myself while looking in the mirror. "Wait what if I don't got this?" I mumbled to myself. "Wait no. You got this," I pointed to myself in the mirror. I took a deep breath and put on the last piece of armour.
"You look beautiful," a strong voice came from behind. I smiled at myself, I did look pretty decent after all but I didn't feel beautiful, I felt strong. I expected Clayton's strong arms to wrap around me but they never did. I swung around, some of my bangs getting in my face.
"What the hell are you doing here," I spit giving Cody the harshest glare I could muster.
"Just...hear me out," he gently took my hand but I slapped it away. I could see the pain in his eyes but he wouldn't give up. "You're my best friend, please don't do this."
Before I knew it my wolf had taken control and I had my hands around his neck. "You fucking stupid little...nincompoop! Dirty pig! Hardheaded asswad. You bastard, deceiving devil!" I had to take some time to catch my breathe from insulting him with all I could think of, childish or not.
"Are you done yet," he laughed taking my hands in his. He hugged me tightly and I could feel my heart being warmed. His eyes looked glossy and his tears were being held back.
"Now why is a strong guy like you crying?" I knew exactly why he was crying, I could read him from the inside out. Sometimes he just need to express his emotions first before healing can begin.
"I'm not crying Aria. It's just all the dust in here and someone was chopping onions in the kitchen earlier," he waved his eyes like a girl would before crying.
"Oh sure, whatever you say Cody," I laugh pinching his cheek. "You're so full of shit," I laugh. He sighs in defeat and slumps his shoulders.
"Okay you got me," he puts up his hands in defense. "Do you forgive me?" He asks sincerely.
I nod, "yes I do forgive you but next time you decide to be an asshole, don't take it out on me."
He nods sadly and looks to the ground. "I'm really sorry. I don't know what I was thinking at the time but now...I hope you can still be my friend after all I have put you through."
I make sure he is looking at me, he needed to know I would never leave him. "I will always be your friend. Don't you ever think that I won't. We've been together since we were kids and I love you so much. Please don't think like that."
"I love you too Aria, you are like family to me. You are the only one I have left. Eileen...she was so amazing and-" his words dragged on into nothingness.
I placed my hand on his shoulder tenderly. "Do you want to talk about it?" I offered. He shook his head and wiped away the last tear. "I'm here for you. You know that I'm here."
A deep loud horn blasted from outside. We were leaving for battle. "Be safe please."
"You know I will. I have the pack and Clayton," I reassured him and headed out. I met up with Clayton, his armor tightly secured over his body, his hair slicked back and the way he stood high above the crowd showed how he was a warrior. I felt myself drooling over him but soon snapped out of it.
"Why were you talking to Cody earlier? He's no longer part of this pack. You should have him banished or executed," he shot me a glare that stung from the inside. It wasn't Clayton talking, it was his wolf. His very jealous and possesive wolf.
"He's just a friend," I try to re approach with kindness but it came out sounding meaner than I expected. I guess I'm just over protective of Cody, he's like my clueless little brother.
He rolled his eyes with annoyance. "I wasn't asking if he was a friend or not because he better be nothing more than a friend. You need to stay with me and let me be your mate, let me mark you so our bound is complete. Stop pushing me away and stop being snobby. I don't care if you're Alpha or not. You are mine and I am yours, that's all that matters."
I scoffed at his behavior. "You need to stop being such a pain in the ass. You can try and mark my wolf but you sure aren't marking me. Now give me back Clayton."
He growls in response. "No!"
"Yes!" I grab him by the ear and pinch hard. "I said...give me back Clayton now."
"Okay okay okay. Ouch," he whimpers rubbing his ears. "I'm sorry, my wolf can be a bit barbaric and possesive. I'll try to do better next time."
I waited for everyone to get settled and gave directions. My heart was beating fast and hard, who would have known that we would have made it this far. We have a plan that will work, we all want to get this over with and we all have faith in each other. "A little word of encouragement before we actually go out there. We are strong and we are one. If we go down then we go down together. We are a pack but we are a team, a family. Fight for what's right, don't fight for violence, fight because we didn't come this far to lose. Fight because our pack is at risk. Fight because we are family and we protect our family. We came for victory and we will earn victory if all of you fight for what's right!"
The crowd bursted into cheers and some battle cries. I lead the trackers into the woods and held my head up high. Clayton joins me by my side and wishes me good luck. I thank him and plaster a proud smile on my face. I hear the howls of wolves in the distance, they sing a beautiful song to the moon and hope for victory. I joined the howl, hopefully the Moon Godess could hear us because we were going to need all the support we could get.
