What's your favourite time of year?
Do you know what you're going as for Halloween yet? Here's the chapter!...
Beatrice's POV
I had slept more at ease last night, as I had been given the hope that I wasn't even sure that I needed.
Probably very few people understand my incessant need to do things for other people. The majority of people would say that I'm selfless but I do it partly for myself, I don't see that there is anything better that you can do with your life than to make other people's lives better.
While on the phone to Warren, after I had left his house, he had told me that his mother had seemed happier and had asked him millions of questions about his non-academic life at dinner time, despite his father's continuing indifference.
I was also, admittedly, rather excited for the upcoming event that just happened to be my 18th birthday. Unfortunately my birthday was quite late in the school year so I was the last to jump on the band wagon, so all of my friends had turned 18 months ago.
The excitement was not derived from the fact that all of the attention would be on me or that I would be getting several presents, I was excited because it meant that I would have more freedom. I couldn't use the excuse of dependence on parents to not get shit done.
No longer can my Father pester me to become a lawyer like him, because now, my future was my own and nobody else's... accept, it may be shared with Warren.
My birthday was tomorrow, I had very little plans accept maybe going on a little road trip with my favourite people. My birthday was the 20th July so I normally had warm weather, which meant less chance of rain but also meant that more people would be up for an adventure.
As I drove to school I reflected on my last 18 years of life. There had been many tribulations through my life so far but I was thankful for them anyway, otherwise they wouldn't have brought me to where I am now: content, with the whole world ready to be explored.
I pulled up and waiting in my regular car parking spot was my female best friend, however she had the added accessory of a jock attached rather indiscreetly to her mouth. It seems that I had been so absorbed with Warren that I had barely noticed my best friend cosying up to Jamie.
This was actually kind of perfect if you thought about it. My best friend dating my boyfriend's best friend. Imagine the double dates!
"Please step away. The PDA police is here." I shout over to them while climbing out of my car. Jamie jumps away as if he has been scared out of his life, whereas Becca just smirks at me smugly.
"You better look scared Jamie, unless you want me to de-ball you," I drawl walking over to them and pointing my index finger at him.
Deciding that they can join me as I walk instead of stopping I walk past them and motion to Jamie as I go making scissor actions with my fingers while mouthing "snip snip" to him. He laughs along with me and Becca but I think we all know he is rightfully a bit nervous of me.
We continued walking and chuckling together, me feeling like a bit of a third wheel when Becks whispered something mischievously in Jamie's ear or he tugged him to her by his waist.
