Okay, okay, okay. It's not actually my fault this time! Basically, I got trapped out of my account somehow! I had a chapter ready to publish but I just couldn't get in! But here it is folks. It may not be worth the wait but I hope you enjoy anyway!
Thank you lovely tristanpolensky for always voting! It makes such a big difference! ❤️❤️Beatrice's POV
The chill of the water was setting my senses onto high alert... which made it all the better when Warren ran his fingers up my bare arms under the water, adding to my serenity.
He pulled me somehow closer to him through the water and we were dead serious, only staring at each other's eyes and lips in turn.
The way his eyes glazed over made me forget the depths of water beneath me and the setting sun behind me.
I was waiting for his lips to press against mine but was surprised when I heard him breathe, "I don't know how I ever lived without you," I stare at him dumbfounded in response and he looked over my whole face, as if trying to memorise it.
"Jamie was right. I have changed, but I don't think in the way he thought. I think I'm just less ignorant now. I see that there's more to life than the here and the now. But-" he smirked at me and my skin burnt despite the cold water lapping around me, "the here and the now is pretty good too. When you're here with the most beautiful girl you've ever laid eyes on, allowed to say you're going to spend your life with her."
My breathing had picked up pace and my legs and arms were moving skittishly trying to stay afloat while staring at Warren.
Suddenly, I big splash interrupts the water beside us and Warren and I shout in shock. A few moments follow and Jamie's cheeky face burst onto the water surface.
"Not interrupting am I?" He drawls with a sly smirk.
Warren scoffs beside me before swimming quickly towards him and diving onto him, ducking his head effectively under the water.
I laugh at the immaturity of these...men? To me, they'll always be boys.
Feeling the ache of my constantly moving muscles I begin to move towards the rusted metal ladder that lead to old chalk stairs that then lead onto our little picnic spot.
Once I climb out of the water and the light wind brushes my skin I turn around and look at the two boys playfighting in the sea. Both with bulging biceps and defined six packs but still sporting boyish smiles with their wet hair falling into their eyes.
I decide to talk a mental snapshot of this moment. With the boys playing in the water, the sun setting and the sapphire sky reflecting in the water that moves rhythmically. I heave a huge sigh of contentedness.
I barely jump when a towel wraps around my shoulders from behind along with two lightly muscled, slim, bronze arms. Rebecca then plops her head down so her chin is resting on my shoulder. "Are you scared?" She whispers daintily in my ear.
"Of what?" I reply with equivalent low volume.
"The future - what will happen with them - leaving everyone." She says, finding more volume but hesitancy still laces her voice.
I chuckle deeply, "of course I am, Becs. I'm so unbelievably excited though," she gives me a tight squeeze around the shoulders in a grateful response before grabbing my hand and pulling me away from the view back towards our spot.
******
A good half an hour passed of me and Rebecca lying under the setting sun. We reminisced of all of our fond memories until I was laughing; wheezing for breath and tears falling down my aching cheeks.
