Aiden's P. O. V.

The moment the bell sounded, signaling the end of the school day, my brow creased as tension built in my shoulder muscles.

Slowly I packed my belongings into my bag and exited the classroom.

As everyone else hurried to get home, I seemed to be the only one wishing that school was longer, as I dreaded the very thought of going back to that house.

As I walked down the hallway, my mind conjured all sorts of terrifying outcomes that could manifest with my return to home.

For example, what if my father had somehow found out about my meet with Nathan during lunch?

What would be the consequences of such an action?

Would my father really go so far as to physically harm Nathan because I made contact with him?

It was indeed a horrifying possibility.

One that I wished not to see.

These thoughts ran through my mind, causing anticipation to set my nerves on edge as I reluctantly made my way over to the school parking lot.

Opening up the double doors that led to the outside world, my eyes scanned the vicinity, keenly keeping an eye out for my father's car within the area.

However, I did not see a trace of his car.

Furrowing my brows, I came to the realization that I might be spending quite some time waiting for my father to show up, as he does have a job he must attained.

And, even though my father is quite high up in the food chain within his workplace, he can't very well leave work early just to come pick me up.

Knowing my Father's schedule, I was indeed looking at a good hour or two before he appears.

I debated what to do next.

Should I just wait right here, or go spend my time more productively until my father arrives?

After much thought, I decided to head over to the library until my father came.

I then spun on my heels and made my way back into the school and up the stairs to get to the library.

Hopping onto a computer, for the next few hours, all I did was homework, managing to finish most of my assignments by the time a message stating that my father was here to pick me up sounded through the schools PA system.

Logging off the library computer with a resigned look, I meet up with my father in front of the school's main office , where we then headed to the parking lot.

There was no conversation between us.

No, how was school today? Or, what did you eat for lunch?

No such questions that a normal, loving parent would ask their child came out of his mouth.

Only uncomfortable silence the whole way back home.

I could only stare nervously out the passenger window as I endlessly wondered if my father had somehow found out about my secret meeting with Nathan.
