C H A P T E R F I V E

"Mere, what's his name. Or if you haven't talked that much to know his actual name, what's his user?" Ally asked me moments after she confronted me about liking a guy from the app that she made me use. I couldn't tell her though that she may of been right. Even though we haven't talked much, MCRMikey seems like an overall nice guy.

I was scared to tell her who the person I was talking to is. She was beside me when he messaged me, the first time. Which he later apologized about it, stating it was his annoying friend. "Uhm, I only know his username." I said looking down into my vegetable broth, little floaters of seasoning skimming the top of the soup and around the edges of the bowl.

"Tell me, tell me. I wanna know about this boy that's making my bestie smile." She said pulling out a chair at the table and sitting down. "He's gotta be pretty cute, nice, and smart for you to react this way with only knowing his username."

"Uhm, his user is MCRMikey...." I said trailing off. As soon as I said it I looked up slightly and I saw Ally's face drop.

"Sweetie, I thought we talked about him. He didn't seem like a good person. And if he lets his friends go on his app or even his phone then that's not a good thing..." she said looking into my eyes, with a slight frown on her face.

"For one, you steal my phone all the time. And two, do you wanna read the message he sent me? He seemed genuinely sorry, and he explained the situation in a way that made me understand where he was coming from.." I said, grabbing my phone from my pocket and handing it to her.

She gave me a funny look before typing my password in and opening the app. Her facial expression changed many times during the messages. When she was finally finished she turned it off and handed it back to me.

"So?" I asked, looking at her with hopeful eyes.

"I approve." She said after a minute. A smile creeping up into her face. "Oh and he's messaged you like four times today..."

"Crap!" I said before unlocking my phone and reading the messages. Which mostly consisted in the same context as Ally's. Worrying where I am, hoping I'm okay. But then they took a turn to him thinking he did something wrong. This got me worried and I promptly messaged him back.

To: MCRMikey

Hey, so sorry that I'm just getting back to you now. I have been quite ill all day and have been resting. My friend just came over, since my mom is at work, and woke me up to eat something. I hope I didn't worry you too much. Even though by your messages it seemed like I did. Anyways, how are you? I hope you've had a good day. Xx Meredith.

I turned off my phone and turned my attention back to Ally.

A few minutes into our conversation about the math teacher that I had last year, and she has this year my phone started going off. To which Ally gave me a smile and a nod motioning to answer the message.

I laughed at his ridiculous messages and pressed the line at the bottom of the screen to compose a new message.

Haha, yep I'm alive. And not mad at you. I am quite sorry that I couldn't get back to you as quickly as I should have. But anyways what's up?

Nah, it's totally fine. And I'm just practicing my guitar. My mom wanted me to do something stimulating. Apparently video games is not stimulating enough. And neither is YouTube.

Well I guess I understand YouTube. But I totally don't understand the video games part. Did you know that a lot of kids learn a lot about things through video games?

Wow that's actually quite interesting. And I get why that wouldn't make sense. I do believe that video games are stimulating. Like bro, the teachers in elementary had you play on 'cool math games' which was basically video games. But that stopped in about grade 6.

What's elementary? Is it like primary school? Sorry I don't know too much about other countries schooling systems. And seriously?! Your teachers let you play video games?!?! Lucky!! We had to do paper work for math. We still do.

It's basically a website with games that you have to use simple math. Good up until grade 6 where everything on the website is easy as fudge. And yeah elementary is like primary. But we have 3 stages. Kindergarten: junior and senior and I think you start at age 3 and go to age 6 (don't quote me on this). Then there's elementary: grades 1-8. ages 6-14. Then there's high school: grades 9-12 and ages 14-18. Then after depending on what you want to do, you can go to college or university and depending on the program the time frame varies. Also some people just go straight to working. Or go into the trades which i don't know much about.

"So? How is he?" Ally asked me as soon as I looked up from my phone.

"He's good. I think," I said feeling my face heat up.

"You think?" She asked chuckling a bit.

"Yeah I think."
