Chapter 2:'A Lunch with a Jerk-of-a-Monkey Day.'

You know the feeling when the star of the movie happens to shun an opponent's sudden attack and then your heart starts to relax and you suddenly became more at ease? I'm really waiting for that feeling. I don't know why I'm scared, on top it all, scared of him. Probably because I've never done such thing in my life. I'm a good girl, so getting a book from a person without permission  is really rude and cruel of me.

But he wasn't holding it yet.

Yeah. But I knew he was going to get it.

You did not do anything wrong.

But-

"I should give you an applause." He stared me down.  His words snapped me out of the debate happening in my brain. I was staring at him too and hoping I don't look like a scared chicken. Then I realized I have to answer.

"I-I .. Yeah. You should. N-no one else could run that quick."  Instead of asking forgiveness, here I am being proud of what I did. You sure are a good girl,Ray. I cleared my throat. Gosh. He looks pissed.

So what?

He's angry at me.

Then? So be it. You didn't do anything wrong.

Someone's mad at me.

"I deserve a free lunch from you." He said, cutting through the voices in my head.

That's all? A free lunch? Phew! Seems like I could breath now. It's not like he will throw a punch at me or anything.

"And why is that?"

"It's a payback for what you did."

I didn't bother to reply. I turned away and proceeded to my table. I would run if I wasn't holding my tray of food. And since I have such shorter legs than him, he managed to outrun me. To my lack of luck, he was now standing in front of me. "How dare you walk away from me?" He smirked. " Am I that gorgeous that you need to walk away to hide your blushing face from me?"

"Puh-lease." I rolled my eyes at him. What a jerk. " My eyes just can't take your annoying face anymore. And I'm not blushing."

"Stop lying!"He said while waving his hands in a joking manner. " You know you like me. You can't deny it. Actually, no one has the ability to not like me. I'm inevitable, can't help it."he shrugged.  His smirk widens while my mouth dropped.

 Wow. Simply wow.

When did he became this cocky? I mean it's not like I knew him well. It's just that he wasn't like this yesterday. Oh well. At least I'm now aware that he can be this cocky. Or maybe worse.

"Really? What gives you the strength to stay that.? Have you eaten something that messes with your brain? You need to see a doctor for that."

"Oh no! I'm perfectly fine. And what you said actually reminds me that I haven't eaten anything for lunch yet." He stared me down. He is oviously pissing me off to buy him lunch. I glared at him. We had this staring match for almost two minutes. But of course my conscience wouldn't let me win.

"Ok fine!" I stormed off to our table. I caught the winning smile on his face that gave me the sudden urge to smack his face. I slammed my tray on the table, earning curious looks from Leila and Sandra. I then proceeded to the line, Coby in toe. I paid for his lunch then started to walk to the direction of my yummy food without uttering any word. Yay. Problem out.(Coby out.) I could finally eat my lunch. Not.

"Why are you still following me?" I said rather exasperately. Why can't he just disappear so that I could be with my food? He just looked at me. I expected him to vanish as I turned my heel. I reached my table and sat on my chair with a sigh. Now I have to eat my meal cold. I felt the chair next to me move then there sat Coby. He placed his tray on the table and started eating like it's the most normal thing to sit with us during lunch.

"What are you doing here? I already gave you your lunch. Can you please scoot now?"

"Why not? Can't I join you guys?"

"No, you can't. Go sit somewhere."

"Why?You don't own this table nor this chair. It's clearly school property."

I was about to reply but Leila noticed us. "Uh..." She looked at Coby then to me then to Coby then back to me. "Is there a problem?

"Yes"

"None."

Coby and I spoke simultaneously.

"Leila, he won't bothering me." I shot a pleading look at Leila in hopes that she will help me get rid of this monkey over here. But she did otherwise.

"He's not doing anything Yoomie. He's simply eating." My face fell to the table. Ugh! Why? Why?! I pulled myself up with a scowl on my face. I began to eat my cold lunch. Seems like today is 'A Lunch with a Jerk of a Monkey Day.'

-----

Crrrrriiiiiiiiinngg.

Ahh.. Finally. I could go home and rest. You think having Coby at lunch is great? Think again. Did you know that all he did is talk about how he won this quiz bee, a marathon, a swimming contest bla bla bla.. I tried to stop him. I tried to ignore him and just focus on my food. But he keeps on nudging me then say "Pretty cool, huh" or "Right, Yoomie?". All of these with his ever present smirk. You don't know how grateful I was when I heard the bell. I stood happily for I could finally get away from Coby. I felt like throwing a punch in the air. But disappeared after realizing I only have one hour away from him because he would be in my class after lunch. I only had the last period to feel the peacefulness of my world. But I managed to feel okay because I could go straight home after this.

I breath in fresh air after I got out of the school doors. This is how I like it. Windy. Peaceful. Until someone has to poke me at the sides and destroyed my composure and made my heart jumped out of my ribcage. I groaned. Laidies and gentlemen! The monkey has arrived!

"What is your problem?!" My nose could possibly be fuming. He pissed me off so many times today. I couldn't take it anymore. "Can't you just go away and stay away?!"

"Chill out, dude. I just want to ask you if Sir Math's quiz will be postponed or not." My icy glare at him didn't fade even when I said " Yes, it is postponed. Didn't you listen to Niama's announcement?" I breathed as I continued my walk. I still heard his "thanks" though.

Home sweet home. I felt a smile coming up. Finally I'm away from the monkey. Yahoo for you Ray. I headed to the bathroom after changing in comfy clothes. I washed my face with my gentle soap. Oh the joy of feling fresh. I repeatedly splashed cold water on my face. It really felt refreshing. I wanted to strip off my clothes and run the cold water through my body but I realized It requires effort and energy and I'm so tired. It's a quiet day for this house. I don't know where they are, but I'll probably meet them in supper. Which I'm not really looking forward to.

------

"I'm cool. I'm cool. As long as I ignore, you I'm cool." I muttered to myself as I controlled my temper. Ugh! I can't focus on the lesson because he keeps on questioning me with random queries. It's been two weeks since that lunch. At first I was relieved that joy would be in my side for not having his presence. But I was clearly wrong. He's such a bug. I'm even surprised that I survived two weeks. I tried my best to get away from him. One time I managed to hide in a creepy corner of the school just so he wouldn't see me. Most of the time I'd hide but there are really some times that you can't hide. Like this English period.

How could I make him disappear , I have no idea. But I will come up with something soon. I'm sure of it.
