Effie made sure that Katniss was never around mahogany after the first incident. She didn't want to ruin anymore good mahogany.

Katniss once asked Effie what ever happened to the mahogany table that she stabbed. Effie said that it was most likely burned since the Capitol would never use it again. Effie left after that conversation and had dinner at home. She loved her mahogany table, even though there was a giant slash going though it.
