"Barrett!! Where are you!" I shouted walking down the halls of Kent high. Barrett and I were supposed to be studying for a calculus test we had on Monday and decided to study at the school on Saturday where it would just be us and the kids in detention. Me and Barrett have been friends since we were young so we had a pretty close relationship, I guess you can say it's pretty close.
"Hey Skylar!" A voice called, I turned to see Grover running down the halls waving at me. "Hey Grover! What are you doing here?" I asked as he came to a stop. "I'm here for detention." Was his answer. "That's funny, you're usually the good kid of the school. And last I checked; you don't have detention." I teased while crossing my arms. He blushed and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Well, I might not have detention exactly." He muttered. "Is this about Violet again." I teased some more. "Would you look at the time!" Grover said changing the subject and starting to run again. "I'm going to be late!" I looked at my phone to see it say 8:10. "Crap!! I'm going to be late!!" I sprinted to where Barrett could possibly be.
I skid to a stop in front of the computer lab, opening the door the first thing that came to view was Barrett and a slightly tall boy with curly hair. "Feel free to look. You wouldn't understand what you're seeing anyway." Barrett told the kid as he began to leave the room. "What are you doing?" I asked as I pulled up a chair. "Looking at stuff." He muttered while typing on the keyboard. He was looking at the Keller Silo control system, I was getting irked with him.
"Shouldn't we be studying for a test. A calculus test!" I groaned spinning in my chair. Barrett looked at me and sighed. "We have the school for the whole day! I want to at least get this done first." Barrett sighed as he stopped my chair with his foot. "Fine." I scoffed stomping my foot. "Text me when you want to meet me somewhere to study. I really need this grade." I got up and walked to the door to leave when Barrett turned himself around to face me. "We'll meet in the library. I'll text you when I'm ready." Barrett said in a serious tone before turning around. I smiled softly to myself and walked out the lab. As I walked, I saw Coach walking the detention kids outside with buckets in their hands. I walked over to Grover and began a conversation.
"How was detention?"
"Horrible, yet great."
"And whys that?"
"Violet spoke to me. But I told a dead mom joke."
"Smooth."
Grover smacked himself in the head as I snickered at his stupidity, once I was done, I looked up to see a tall boy wearing a brown jacket and a black zip-up underneath. His hood was covering his strawberry blonde hair and his green eyes were staring straight at me and Grover. It scared the crap out of me. "Who pissed in his cheerio's?" I asked Grover as the boy turned around. "He's mad cause he took the joke serious." Grover groaned. I shuddered at the thought of making a kid who looked like he was disowned by his parents mad, he's probably going to kill Grover once detentions done.
We walked outside to see some kids playing basketball and the cheerleaders working on their routines. "I'll be right back; I see my bestie!!" I said giddily as I ran to my BFF Natalie who was running for class president. "NATALIE!!!" I screamed as I hugged her causing her to stumble back. "Hey Sky, how's it going." Natalie laughed as we parted. I looked to see Addy putting up a banner saying Vote Natalie, the smart choice. "I told you coming on the weekend would get us the best visual real estate in the school." Natalie told Addy as she smiled brightly. "If a giant banner doesn't get people to vote for you, I don't know what will." Addy grunted putting the banner up.
I smiled as I pulled a hair tie out of my pocket and pulled my blonde hair up in a ponytail. My pink ombré rested on my shoulders as I went to help Addy get the rest of the banner up. "I don't think it's straight enough." Natalie mumbled as she walked over and began to help. "Can you get it any higher?" She asked. "We're trying." Addy groaned trying to reach higher. Once we got it high enough, we began to walk back to the school until the emergency bell rang. "Is this a test?" I asked as we walked to where Grover was. Was this a test, I wonder what the kids inside the school are doing. Wait, BARRETT!! I pulled my phone to see he texted me a few seconds ago.
