*In this, Thomas is 23 and Newt is 24
Thomas' POV:
I was on my way to pick up Teresa's (my sister) daughter, Karen from school. She told me that she would be working late tonight at the hospital and Minho is on a business trip. I agreed to pick her up and said that Karen could just spend the night at my house.
"Are you sure Tom? I can just pick her up after work?" Teresa asked.
"T, it's fine. I love having Little K spend the night!" I said, using Karen's nickname.
"Ok... if you're sure," she said, unsure.
"T, it'll be ok. I have a key to your house and I'll go pack her an overnight bag," I said, coming to a red light.
"Ok. Thanks, Tom!" She said yelling into the phone; I could tell she had a big smile on her face.
"Ok, I gotta go, T. We'll see you tomorrow," I said, driving with a green light.
"Bye Tom," she said, hanging up.
I drove to Minho and Teresa's house to pack Karen's bag. I was driving down their road, making a mental checklist of what I should pack. I have never had to pack her bag before, she just comes with what Teresa packed.
'Let's see, she'll want her blankie, a stuffed animal, pajamas, her toothbrush and toothpaste, clothes for tomorrow, and... and... what else does a 6-year-old need?' I thought to myself.
I pulled up to the house and parked the car. I turned the car off, locked it, and walked up to the front door. I was looking through my keys to find the house key. When I did, I put it in the keyhole and unlocked the door. I walked in and made my way to Karen's room.
Her room was pink with white, decal, flowers. She had rough, white, carpeting and a pink mat in front of her bed. Her bed had a Finding Nemo blanket and matching pillow, a couple of stuffed animals, and her blankie.
I walked over to her closet and grabbed her, Sophia the First, suitcase and her lite purple jacket. I went over to her bed and set the suitcase down and opened it up. I put her Minion pajamas in, her clothes for tomorrow, and her blankie. I went down the hallway to the bathroom and put her toothbrush and paste in a ZipLock baggy. I walked back to her room and put the bag in her suitcase and zipped the suitcase back up. And now, the hardest decision, which stuffed animal.
'Should I pack her teddy bear or horse?' I thought to myself. 'If I pick the wrong one, then I'll have an angry little girl. On one hand, teddy bears are cuddly. On the other, she loves horses.'
"Horse it is then," I said, out loud.
I grabbed the horse, jacket, and suitcase and walked to the front door. I locked the door and walked back out to the car. I unlocked the car and put her suitcase and jacket in the driver's seat and started the car back up. I pulled out of the driveway and drove to the school.
On my way to the school, I was listening to the radio and thinking of what Karen and I will have for supper tonight. Probably pizza from, Pizza Hut. Before I knew it, I was at the school. I turned the car off, locked it, and walked up to the school.
I walked up the sidewalk to the old, brick, building and rang the button. The speaker buzzed and then the door clicked. I opened it and walked into the office to be greeted by the older lady behind the desk smiling at me. I smiled back at her and asked her, "did Teresa Lee call in about Karen Lee?"
"Yes, she did. Are you, Thomas?" She asked, looking through some paperwork.
"Yep!" I said.
"Alright, Karen is in room 13 with, Mr. Sangster."
