Chapter 9

Nicki slowly woke up and it took her a split second before she realized her 'Nightmare' was a reality. She was in a hospital, lying on a bed and Carol, Robert, Drake, Jelani, and Micaiah were in the room.

"Nika!" Jelani walked over and hugged her. "You alright?"

"No..." She said and held her stomach. She grabbed the bin next to her and threw up. "Call a doctor, I'll see everyone later." She sounded hoarse. Everyone nodded slowly before exiting

Drake was the last one out. Before he left he reassured her it would all be okay and kissed her cheek. She smiled a little as he backed away and slowly closed the door. She sighed while waiting.

Five minutes later...

"Ms. Onika? Are you awake?" Nurse Lisa said and walked towards her.

Nicki nodded her head, indicating yes.

"Okay, we did a few tests and it seems that..... You were poisoned. It was a mixture of very toxic gases and if you would've been alone, you might have died inhaling it. Mr. Graham saved your life." She said with a small smile.

"Aww" Nicki thought. She would never be able to repay him. It brought a smile to her face. That didn't last long because then a wave a nausea hit her. She cringes and breathed. "Uggghhh... I feel horrible" she croaked.

"And that's what these pills are for. We don't know how long your symptoms might last, but take them when you feel sick." The nurse said and patted her shoulder softly before giving it a small rub.

"Okay..." Nicki sighed and her vision started to blur again. She soon fell asleep.

4 hours later....

Nicki woke up and took a pill. She hated hospitals, so she called the nurse.

"What's wrong Mrs. Maraj?

"I.... i want to leave."

"Well are you sure? You might feel abit unstable still." She said with abit of concern.

"That's okay, I just really want to leave."

Alright. Mr. Graham is in the waiting room waiting for you." She said as Nicki stood up. She went to the bathroom to change.

After Nicki went to change, she started feeling woozy. But she just wanted to get out of there.

"Aubrey..." She said as she stumbled into the waiting room.

Drake came over and slowly picked her and carried her to the car with his strong muscles. The car ride was silent.

They went to her mom's house and Drake helped her walk in. She slowly walked to the couch and laid by her mom.

"Aww my baby." Carol kissed her head. "When you get hungry I can make you some noodles, alright Nika?" She said while putting Nicki's hair into a loose bun.

"Yea... I'm hungry now." Nicki said with abit of crankiness

"Alright." Carol replied and went into the kitchen.

Her dad walked into the living room. During Christmas time, he had been in Trinidad; visiting his friends there.

He walked to Nicki and sat down amd held her hand.

"I'm sorry I wasn't here during Christmas to see you, Onika. Just-"

"Save it, dad. I'm sick, and you're here. That's all I care about now" Nicki told him, even though she was upset at him for not being there.

Drake sat on the other couch, near the kitchen. When Jelani approached, Drake figured he was looking for trouble.

"I'm just here to make sure the woman I love is okay. So before you start anything I can leave if-" Drake was rudely interrupted
