Monitor duty

"And Starscream; as consequence for your newest failure, you are required to attend night monitor duty with Soundwave."

Megatron finished, concluding the meeting of sorts he had called the higher up in the ranks to. Starscream snapped up, he had zoned out, but the last words Megatron said impacted him like cold water. Megatron smirked before exiting the room, he thought Starscream and Soundwave hated each other...

He couldn't be more wrong.

Of course tonight that didn't matter to Starscream, he was very tired and yet; he had NIGHT monitor duty with a bot who he has been avoiding. None of this mattered to Lord Megatron. Starscream sighed, sure he loved Soundwave, I mean they were bondmates after all, but because of Starscreams inner reluctance to become sparkmates Starscream began to doubt he deserved Soundwave. Now with this development he had to spend the night stuck in a room with the bot he had been avoiding, how could he face (ha, face!) Soundwave when he couldn't even be a good bondmate?!

With a sigh the lanky jet stood and walked to his quarters, this punishment was better than the usual of being kicked around for his failure at least. Upon reaching his quarters he laid on his berth, it felt empty without his beloved beside him though. Sadly, at the moment, Starscream's favorite 'pillow' was receiving the news that he would be stuck in a room with the person who had been avoiding him and no doubt thinking of a way to make that person tell him why.

As Starscream closed his optics a voice cut though the peace, " STARSCREAM, REPORT TO THE MONITOR ROOM FOR NIGHT MONITOR DUTY."

"Frag it to the Pits of Kaon!" Starscream cursed, standing up. Why must that accursed voice always disturb his peace?

Soon Starscream was on his his way to the monitor room, where he would be forced to spend the night in... without getting any recharge. Why did it have to be him? Soundwave didn't even need any help! The mech was literally a computer, and not to mention the chief communications officer for the nemesis. Why did Starscream have t-

*Clang*

Starscream fell back onto his aft and glared at the exposed fuel line he had walked into. The maintenance vehicons who had previously been working to relocate the line were fixing Starscreams earlier mistake...

Karmas a glitch.

Once he righted himself he returned to his journey. Upon reaching the monitor room Soundwave and himself would occupy, Starscream didn't acknowledge Soundwave and simply went to one of the many monitors.

Meanwhile Soundwave was remixing a clip from the security cameras, before going to Starscream and using a tentacle to prod the smaller mechs shoulder. "I'm busy." Came Starscreams curt reply, but Soundwave would not except that.

Suddenly Starscream jumped back, the monitor he had been watching was hacked by his annoyed partner. Though soon the annoyed one was Starscream as he watched a clip of him running into the fuel line on loop so it looks as if he is repeatedly banging his head on it as the chorus of the human song 'Love shack' played.

After the fifth "Bang bang on the door" played Star snapped around and growled at Soundwave in annoyance, "What do you need?!" Soundwave waves visor did not allow Starscream to see the pointed glare he was receiving, but he knew it was there.

"Starscream: has been avoiding. Question: why?" Soundwave asked, but Starscream turned away to walk out. Slightly angered Soundwave used his wire-like tentacles to wrap around his bondmate and turn him around. "Question: why has Starscream been avoiding: myself?" He repeated firmly.

Starscream knew he had to confess to Sound about his fear, but how could he admit to the mech he loves that he didn't think he was good enough. I mean what bondmate is so scared to commit they would go to length of avoiding to try to get out of said commitment? The truth is: Starscream is a good bondmate, but how can someone have that kind of self esteem when they are literally beat down for their mistakes?

Now Starscream had to face the faceless one before him, "I'm sorry for avoiding you." He answered, but this wasn't enough.

"Question: why?"

"... because I'm sorry?...?" Starscream said lamely.

"Starscream : Misunderstood, Question: why has Starscream been avoiding." He could feel the eye roll.

"..."

"Answer."

"I... I'm scared..."

"Question: scared of what?"

Starscream deflated, he was trapped now. "Of becoming your sparkmate you fool! I know it's stupid, but I can't help it! I'm just not good enough-"

"No. Starscream: is good enough. Starscream: will become sparkmate when ready, not before. Soundwave: understands fear. Soundwave: is scared too."

Starscream was surprised. Everyone knew he was a coward, but Soundwave was fearless! How could he be scared of something like sparkbonding?

"Question: will Starscream no longer avoid Soundwave?"

With that question Soundwave slid back his visor, he wanted eye contact for this answer. He was surprised when Starscream quickly leaned in and kissed him before the tall mech could react. "Does that answer your question? I'm sorry for being selfish and avoiding you." " Avoiding: is excused, do not do it again." Soundwave replied once he regained his composure.

Starscream was slightly surprised when Soundwave didn't put him down(he was wrapped in a few of Soundwave's tentacles and currently hovering of the ground.) Then again, Soundwave was known for being unpredictable. He released lazerbeak from his place on his chassis before walking to the door with his 'captive' in tow. "What are you doing? We have monitor duty!" Starscream asked his bond-mate, curiosity colouring his usually melodramatic tone.

"Lazerbeak: will cover monitor duty. Starscream: is Soundwaves, Starscream: must be reminded of this. Tentacles: have more than one use."
