Snow, feathery wisps of it, came floating down from the bluish-gray clouds that passed over the dimly-shining sun. All was peace and quiet. There was nobody there but him, and he loved every moment of it - everything seemed so muffled and colored in simple, dull tones just for him. The trees were a deep, almost black, shade of green with the fresh, pure snow hanging on its leaves. A simple, pearly white tinted with blue shadows.

If only everything could stay that way forever. If only he could stand there in the tranquil unmoving scene for hours, never leaving, never growing bored.

A soft, slightly painful projectile hit his cheek and made him realize there was simply no way that was happening. Not when he has to take care of an extremely hyperactive and excited man-child, and a lazy, procrastinating pillow-like marshmallow. Also known as Papyrus and Sans, respectively.

"NYEH HEHE, CAUGHT YOU THIS TIME, BROTHER!" was the first thing Ariel heard of them, followed by two pairs of footfalls - one loud, march-like, crunching against the snow and the other heavy and slow, barely making a sound. If he hadn't heard them earlier, then clearly Papyrus had made an effort to sneak up on him and aim a snowball at his face. The idea brought a smile to his face.

"Indeed you have," he replied in a soft, chuckling tone. Deep inside, he wondered if it was better than his oscillation of tone that occasionally tried to rise out of his throat. Maybe he should try developing that voice. It was similar to Grillby's - warm and inviting like fire. Or similar to his father's - clear and understanding. Friendly, like a doctor would sound.

"heya, big bro," Sans mumbled, stepping right beside him, staring at the trees. Ariel could feel that Sans understood how he felt about the area they gathered in now. Just standing there, Ariel felt complete. His hand moved towards Sans' and almost actually held it, but Sans turned to look at Papyrus before they could meet. He felt his SOUL deflate slightly, but focused his attention on the youngest brother.

"Papyrus alright?" he asked in a low voice, watching Papyrus for a moment as a pack of fluffy white dogs jumped from behind a tree and knocked him over, barking in a set rhythm. Some sort of dog-song. Ariel turned his back to Papyrus reluctantly, because if there was anything better than the calm of the trees it was Papyrus' energetic squeals and excited movements.

"better than we've seen 'im, now that tori's coming back. the thing with mettaton and saiya really took the fight out of him. . ."

He was clearly referring to that recent incident when, Papyrus, decided to go on a date with Mettaton and they hit it off. Many fruitful and meaningful dates later, Metatton suddenly publicly announced his relationship with the outgoing rock artist, Saiya. A heartbroken Papyrus promptly tried to confront him, only to be evaded and bring him further into a spiral of sadness.

"Now we can only hope for Toriel to knock some sense into that metal-headed ninny for hurting Papyrus like that. I'd take on him myself if it weren't for Saiya."

"what about her?"

Sans' voice was unusually cold at the mention of the rock artist, sending chills down Ariel's spine.
