"Yes I know, and I'm telling you it's a bad idea!" I scream into the phone.
"Come on Sam, what would you do if the hottest guy in school asked you to meet up at a party?" Ella, one of my best friends, defends.
I sigh and run a hand through my hair. "I would fucking hang him by his balls! I encourage you to do the same. Riley Hunter is not someone you want to be with. You know what he's like! He'll sleep with you and then forget your name the next day."
"Yeah I know, but still. I'm lucky to even be with him for a night." She swoons. I honestly can't believe this is coming from my friend. I thought she was smarter than this.
I'm a big social butterfly. I wouldn't exactly say I'm like 'popular' per say, but a lot of people like me, and I usually like everyone. There is one person however who I simply cannot stand. And that person is Riley Hunter.
He's a player, a partier, a cocky self-centred all around bad boy who plays with the hearts of women. He thinks he can get any girl he wants.
That's only 99% true. I am like the only girl on the planet who sees him for the pig he is and isn't fooled by his charms and good looks.
"Okay. Whatever Ella. Don't come crying to me when he kicks you to the curb. Which he will." And with that I hang up the phone.
As soon as I hang up, the doorbell rings. I head downstairs to answer it and see none other than my best friend Ryan.
I sigh in relief. "Hey Ry. I'm actually so glad you came." I say, quickly hugging him.
He laughs "Girl when are you not glad to see me? But seriously, why are you specifically happier this time?"
We head up to my room. "Ella is gonna hook up with Riley Hunter at that party on Saturday. I'm really pissed and I just need to hang out with someone who's not gonna obsess over him."
"Then I'm not the right person to be here right now." Ryan says as he flops on my bed and makes himself at home. "That boy is one sexy creature. I'm pretty sure I'd be Ella in this situation. Damn."
I grab a pillow and smack him with it. "I really wish that in this exact moment, you weren't gay."
Ryan takes the pillow from me and laughs. "You love me though."
"True." I mutter as Ryan sits back up, fixing his messed up hair.
"Seriously though," he begins. "As hot as Riley is, he's not into guys, even delicious ones like myself , so you don't have to worry about me hooking up with him." I roll my eyes.
Ryan is honestly my favourite person on the planet. He's been my best friend since he moved two doors down when we were 13 years old. I've always known him to be gay. He told me he realized he liked guys when he was 12 years old, and he's never changed his mind. I envy him for that. I wish I knew myself that well and knew what I wanted in life.
Through the years, he's been there for me through every up and down in my life. Even when I had no friends, Ryan always stuck up for me. He is without a doubt my best friend and I would not be the sassy, sarcastic, caring person I am today without him.
"So, do you wanna watch a movie?" I ask.
He looks at his watch. "It's already 9:00 though. Not enough time and it'll be so late trying to break into my house." He says dramatically.
