"You did WHAT?!" Ryan yells at me once I'm inside the car.
I'm currently telling him the events of the past 10 minutes. Everyone else may be fooled by Riley and I dating, but Ryan gets to know the truth.
"I still can't stand him, but you know me. I'm too competitive, I couldn't turn it down. But I'm going to win, he'll regret ever messing with me by the end." I say with an air of smugness.
"Samantha Jade Taylor you are lucky I don't kick you out of my car for this shenanigan. Seriously." Ryan rambles, clearly ticked. Mostly out of care though, I understand he just doesn't want me to get hurt. "Weren't you just giving Ella heck for hooking up with him? Now you're doing the same?! Sammy you hypocrite." He jokes.
I roll my eyes. "This is different. I'm not 'hooking up' with him. We're actually going to be dating. No one night stand. Real relationship- sorta. And it's purely to prove a point. And I'm not going to have sex with him."
"Whatever Sam, it's your funeral."
I laugh "you're so dramatic Ry. Calm down. You're just jealous cause I'll be spending time getting close to him while he doesn't even know your name."
The car goes silent, and I know I've won. Yeah maybe it was a low blow but I've always been a sassy bold person anyways, Ryan knows that.
"Kay, you win. But can you blame me? He's smoking!" He defends in a whiny tone.
I lightly jab him in the side.
"No stop stop I'm driving!" He whines, yet I continue to pick at him until we arrive at my house.
After we are settled in my room with a bag of Doritos, my phone dings.
Unknown: hey babe ;) it's Riley.
I roll my eyes and type up a reply, sneaking glances at Ryan to see if he noticed my phone go off. He didn't.
Me: don't call me that. And how did you get my number?
Riley: your friend Ella is a doll and gave it to me. It's a shame I won't be hooking up with her on Saturday.
Me: Not the best way to get me to fall for you. You know girls don't really like it when you talk about hooking up with other girls.
Riley: my bad. But hey, you're lucky I even gave up this gig. All for you.
I roll my eyes and ignore the text. Even when he's supposed to be in a 'relationship' he's a pig. Not falling for him is going to be easier than I thought.
Seconds later, my phone lights up again.
Riley: and trust me, you're already falling ;)
Ryan leans over my shoulder. "Who ya texting that's so much more important than meeeeee?"
I simply stare at him, unsure how to answer. Suddenly his eyes widen and he shakes his head. "No. No. No. This is not happening. Ew gross I don't even wanna know."
I laugh and flick him in the head. "Calm your tits. He's just talking about how he thinks I'm already falling for him."
Ryan shoves several Doritos in his mouth at once. "Omg joke's on him! Okay maybe this will be entertaining." He mumbles through his stuffed face.
Suddenly my phone rings.
"For the love of peanut butter. Who the hell is it now?! I'm trying to watch a movie here!" Ryan yells and pauses the movie and flops on my bed.
I look at the screen. It's Riley. I show Ryan. He lights up a tiny bit. "Ooh this should be fun. Put it on speaker!" He commands as he leans in closer.
I shove him and answer the phone, putting it on speakerphone. "Hello?"
"Hey there," the deep sexy voice on the other end says. I think I even heard Ryan moan. "What's a pretty girl like you up to on a Thursday night?"
I roll my eyes. I look over at Ryan who's mouthing 'I'm not here!' and totally ignore his pleas. "I'm just hanging out with Ryan at my house. What does a guy like you do when he can no longer hook up?"
He laughs. God that laugh. It makes me want to make out with him on the spot but also punch him in the face at the same time. "That was a low blow Sam. But I'm willing to forgive and forget. Especially when it comes to someone as beautiful as you."
I sigh, "what do you want Riley."
"Wow we are to the point aren't we?" He says in a flirtatious way. "I just wanted to see if you wanted to come over tonight so we could get to know each other a little better."
Riley Hunter is the last person I ever wanted to get to know.
"As much as I'd love to," I start through gritted teeth. "Ryan is staying the night so unfortunately I can't." Ryan gives me a thumbs up and a smirk. Classic.
"Well you see, you've accepted this challenge of feelings, now you have to follow through. We won't make a very convincing couple, nor will you be able to fall for me, if we know nothing about each other." He explains. Damn he's persuasive. Why is he not on the debate team?
Oh right, bad boys don't join debate teams.
"Hold your horses. You jumped the gun a little here. I said that I wasn't able to come tonight. I never said I couldn't come at all." God I'm clever.
The look of complete and utter amusement on Ryan face is making it so hard to not burst out into laughter.
"Hold your horses? Jump the gun? What am I, a cowboy?" He laughs, then pauses. "Well, you know what they say. Save a horse, ride a-"
"Do you want me to come over or not?" I say impatiently, cutting him off. Ryan is killing himself with silent laughter.
He laughs again. "Of course I do love. How about Friday?"
I hesitate, making it sound like I'm thinking, meanwhile Ryan is hyperventilating. I shoot him a glare. "Fine. Tomorrow it is."
I can just hear the smirk on his face. "See you then, babe."
"Don't call me that." And with that I hang up on him.
I throw my phone on the carpeted floor and look at Ryan.
"Oh my God. I was right. This is gonna be the most entertaining few months of my life!" He wipes away a tear from laughing so hard.
I sigh and start thinking about the events tomorrow will bring. I'll be going to Riley Hunter's house. Meeting his family. Going in his room most likely. Yikes.
"It's definitely going to be interesting."
