"Peter don't you dare!"
Grinning, Peter disappears. Groaning in frustration Fitz looks back down at his homework. Peter can't always disappear like that. He can run away from everything without being caught. That little shit. He can leave when anything gets awkward, he can avoid anything. But everyone else is stuck here facing life properly.
"Hi Leo"
It's Bruce. He walks over to the bookshelf and as usual starts looking through all the books.
"I haven't got anything new you know" Fitz shakes his head "my mum has banned me from buying any books for the next two months. Her credit card bills are reaching an all time high"
" I'm a weirdo" Bruce laughs "I like looking at them anyway."
"Has Jemma..."
"Texted me?"
Fitz nods. Bruce shakes his head.
"Why ask?"
"She's being acting kinda quiet recently" Fitz shrugs
"Probably just your imagination" Bruce grins "you worry about her all the time you know"
Fitz supposes he is right. He gets so paranoid over Jemma's safety. When they were ten Jemma didn't turn up to school for a week which was unusual for her because she hardly ever missed school. Convinced Jemma was dead, Fitz started to make funeral arrangements until Jemma turned up the next day claiming that she had had the flu.
"I still can't get over the funeral thing" Bruce giggles
"Shut up!" Fitz goes bright red "I got genuinely worried"
"What homework are you doing?"
"Biology" Fitz shakes his head "ugh I hate it. It's so..."
Bruce smiles patiently.
"Disgusting!" Fitz grins
"You're so screamish"
"Jemma is so weird!" Fitz looks disgusted "she's endlessly dissecting stuff. Telling me it's... fascinating but I tell her that diagrams are just as..."
"Effective?"
"Yeah that"
"It is cool to see something in real life" Bruce shrugs
"Not when it's spurting out blood and weird goo"
"Weird goo?" Bruce looks confused "come on Leo we both know what that weird goo is. You know everything!"
Fitz goes red again.
"Off course I do" he grins shyly "I just can't remember the words"

Bruce is one of the only people to call him by his first name. He never likes calling people by their last names and Fitz likes how he calls him Leo. It's kinda like having a nickname.

Peter suddenly appears again.
"Finally!" Fitz stands up, almost knocking his chair back "Peter would you stop disappearing like that! It's driving me insane!"
"Fitz shut up!" Peter looks agitated
His hat is eschew, his jacket is loose and his jeans are dirty.
"No you shut up!" Fitz snaps "im sick of you getting out of every annoying situation! You're such a...a...a...A CHEAT"
"FITZ"
"Not everyone gets to vanish like you do!" Fitz yells " not everyone gets to live their life the way they want to!"
"FITZ WILL YOU SHUT UP!"
Fitz falls silent. His hands droop to his sides in annoyance. His face is still red as he glares at Peter.
"What is it Peter?" Bruce asks, putting his book down on Fitz's bed
"It's Simmons" Peter says hurriedly "she's been rushed to hospital. Her and Tony were together and she suddenly couldn't breath. We don't know if it's a heart attack or something else but you need to go to the hospital now."
All of the colour drains out of Fitz's face in an instant. His eyes darken and he stumbles back slightly in shock, holding on to his chair. He looks white. Deathly white.
"Leo are you okay?" Bruce steps forward and holds on to Fitz's shoulder. He's shaking.
Fitz doesn't speak. Just shakes his head. Jemma. Hospital. Can't breath.
"Let's get your mum to drive you" Bruce says "now"
"Shouldn't I take him?" Peter asks
"Let's not add whiplash to the mix shall we?" Bruce says sarcastically

They quickly run down the stairs and Fitz waits outside the car, shaking when his mother appears. She doesn't say anything. Just pulls him in to a quick hug before getting in the car.

Tony sits in the hospital waiting room, playing with his sleeve. He still hasn't got over what happened. One moment Simmons was happy and joking and the next she couldn't breath.
