Chapter 9) Collapse

I've realised that the reason I have a headache (again) is because I've been playing pokémon (heart gold) since 9 am this morning. (It's currently 10pm)

Oops.

So yes, I'm multitasking right now.

"You're back!" Elliot exclaimed as Chase arrived at the arena. It was a week after the incident and after resting at home, he was finally able to come back.

"Hey," he greeted, taking off his hat.

"You're alive then!" I grinned, Chase nodding in reply.

"Right, I'm gonna get training. See you all in a jiffy," Chase said as he marched towards the changing rooms.

"Oi Chase, don't think you're getting out of supervising tomorrow!" Sapphire shouted at him, which he replied to with his two fingers behind his head.

Once he'd gotten changed and come to meet us, he went off with Elliot to do some stuff by the walls, so I went to my usual spot at the foam pit to practice my flips.

I was actually quite impressed by the progress I was making. I could land the double flip, but I wanted to perfect it before I moved on to something else.

Dylan and Calum came over to me as I sat at the side taking a break.

"So, Chase?" Dylan began.

"What about him...?" I asked slowly.

"Well, you obviously like him."

"Mmphh..." I choked.

"Yeah, dude it's obvious." Calum agreed.

"Does he know?" Dylan asked.

"I... I don't know, maybe not." I looked over at him. He was helping Elliot up out of the foam pit.

"I think he li-" Calum started,

"Calum!" Dylan hissed, kicking his shin.

"You think he what?" I demanded, standing up.

"Eh... We think he likes Elliot... And vice versa." Dylan admitted.

"Player." Calum commented, receiving another kick."

I felt my world slowly collapse into a small pile of rubble.

"Nah they're just..."

I glanced at them again.

"...yeah..."

"But that doesn't mean he doesn't like you?" Dylan offered, but I shook my head.

"Lads, what are you doing?" Sapphire came over.

"We're discussing- OW- Fletcher's love life- OUCH JESUS DYLAN!" Calum yelled.

"Oh, with who?" Sapphire said with a raised brow. I sunk back down into the chair and watched Dylan physically face palm himself.

"Chase." Calum beamed.

"Obviously." Sapphire giggled, "how's it working out?"

She obviously directed the question at me, but Calum- who never really knew when to shut up- decided to tell her everything we'd literally just spoken about.

"I-" Sapphire glanced at Chase and Elliot, "I mean... Yeah. Fletcher you gotta up your game, Jesus."

"My game for men? Or my game for Chase?"

"Your game for Chase."

I sighed, my head in my hands.

This social gathering seemed to draw attention, as soon enough, Brandon walked over.

"Hey guys, what's going-"

"HEY CALUM, LET'S GO OVER HERE BEFORE YOU START TALKING AGAIN, SHALL WE?" Dylan said over-loudly as he dragged Calum away. Thanks mate.

"-on..." Brandon finished, an estranged look on his face.

Sapphire shook her head and chuckled, walking back to her post.

"Not much, you just happened to come at a bad time, sorry." I apologised.

"It's fine, I was just passing through anyway..." He sighed as he continued to walk to the changing rooms.

I looked up at Chase and Elliot again, something I should probably stop doing, and... Yeah, I could see the connection.

The way he smiled everything Elliot spoke, the way they acted around eachother...

"Dammit Fletcher, you're 16, you don't need a partner..." I hissed to myself as I began to storm to the back of the room.

You only want...

The next day...

Chase's POV

So, I was supervising.

I walked around the arena, checking on all the kids, making sure they weren't about to break their necks or anything, you know, the usual, when a few boys that I hadn't seen before, suspiciously went into the changing rooms.

I sighed and made my way over there, and was shocked at the sight once I opened the door.

"Hey!" I shouted, the group turned to me. "No smoking in the building! What the hell do you think you're doing?"

I marched up to one of the boys, who hadn't moved, and batted the cigarette out of his hand. It landed in someone's bag, but I'd find it after.

"Hey man, who do you think you are?"

"I'm supervising, and I'm telling you to get rid of those and get out."

None of them moved.

"That means now!" I exclaimed, pointing at the door. They rolled their eyes and trudged past me, the smell of tobacco choking my lungs and I tailed them out, to make sure they wouldn't get up to anything else, completely forgetting to find the one I'd lost.

I passed Elliot on the way out, he smiled at me, and I smiled back.

I was confused. I didn't know if I liked him, because up until recently I'd never considered my being straight. I mean, I could be bi, but I guess only time would tell.

"Hey," Fletcher came over to me.

"Oh, hi."

"Um... How's it going?" He asked.

"Yeah things have been great, how about you?" I replied.

He shrugged.

"Anything up?"

"No no!" He was quick to deny anything, "no I'm fine."

"Okay..." I frowned, and we went our separate ways.

I began to smell something, and sniffed at the air. Was that... Smoke?

My first thoughts were that the group of smoker boys had returned, but then I realised I'd forgotten about the cigarette that had fallen in someone's bag...

And then the fire alarm went off.

Sorry I got caught up reading fAnFiCtIoN and crying over TWD so yeah this is late.
