The Honorable Baron

Quest

The strange request blared in front of the guild member sporting loose brown tendrils of hair and sour expression. She was short of work, already going on week two of unemployment. While she could stay alive doing the menial and trivial of requests, there was only so much she could do. Part time was not the most effective means to survive in that dog-eat world.

The tavern was dark and filled with the stink of booze and disease. Many of her fellow guild members had gotten lucky the first week when the batch of requests came pouring in. This request remaining on the board caused her to scowl in disgust.

It appeared this request required two things. The first was to find an honorable baron who disappeared recently. The second bullet said the guild member would be paid in full only if the baron was found alive.

No wonder no one took this request.

While she was guaranteed a fourth of the prize money no matter the outcome, the money would still not be enough to sleep in a nice bed.

"Ya thinkin' o' takin' ze job lass?" The bartender's bar was right next to the Quest Board, which made it easier for guild members to pick a request and drink shortly after. Luckily she had no funds for drinking.

"I don't have much choice." She grunted and ripped the quest off the board. To survive she had to have money--no matter where it came from. "Where is the informant for this particular quest?"

The bartender made his notes on his side sheet about the last quest being accepted. "Ya will find 'im by that bypass near ze church an' zat fancy neighborhood." Basically, she would find him near the aristocrats zone.

She pulled her hooded cowl over her neck and her hair, and adjusted her fingerless gloves.

"Thanks Barkeep." When she was done, she pulled out her last dregg and left it on the counter.

She leftthe bar, and hoped she wouldn't regret accepting this absurd job.
