They only needed a couple days to prepare. Jonathon had already gotten them two tickets to ride as passengers on an auxiliary ship between Na Luna province and Demeuillieu. There had been rumors that this Baron character had fled from Etrius to Na Luna Province, but changed fleets halfway through and sailed to Demeuillieu. With their ship already in sight of the merchant town, it was only a matter of time before their quest would end. She didn't think it would take long to find a vigilante rich person parading around stealing what he deemed was appropriate.
The main problem with this was the lands surrounding Demeuillieu. If he was a vagabond, he could make it to the outskirts and survive in the wilderness--and the State would have a more difficult time finding him.
The next problem was the amount of dreggs he could use to con people to believe he was someone else.
Nyla was still processing the information Jonathon had given her about the target, and it continued to reel continuous images through her head. Something didn't add up.
"Nyla." The girl lifted her head up and noticed Jonathon had changed into less conspicuous clothing like she had. She wasn't in her normal tattered black and brown attire. Now she wore a white chemise that ruffled up at the neck and continued down into the corset that wrapped loosely around her mid-drift. She never wore a corset before, so it was interesting to wear. She wore baggy and loose cargo pants that ballooned to her ankles, where elastic clung to her effectively. Her shoes were flat and easy to maneuver in, although she had to be careful not to slip in water puddles.
Jonathon was dressed similarly, but with a black long sleeve with cargo pants, a gun holster, and his sword at his side, He had not slicked his bangs back like he would if he was in uniform, so his hair was freestanding and not contained, Sometimes it would catch the wind and play just as hers did as the ship bounced up and down on the sea. "We are docking shortly. How are you doing after your first cruise?" He appeared concerned since she looked paler compared to before the ride.
Nyla shrugged, feigning cheeriness. "It was fun."
Jonathon smirked, crossing his arms as he looked down to her. "Glad you enjoyed it, we have to travel around this continent before heading back home. It'll be more than a month's travel, that's for sure." The look of dread that crossed her faces seconds after made him chuckle.
"Just kidding." Nyla immediately answered his joke with a swift punch to his arm. "Ow!"
"That's what you get." She huffed and stormed off to the port side. She could see the pretty sands of Demeuillieu, as well as the high tiered buildings that sported different colored roofs. "Woah!" It was completely different compared to Na Luna's dark and gloomy isles and open air marketplace paled to the magnificence of their merchant town.
"Demeuillieu, the city of merchants. How do you like it?" Nyla looked up to Jonathon standing beside her casually. He was looking out to the town with a small smile on his face.
"It's different." Nyla commented, unsure of what she thought. At first it looked like something out of a fairy tale, but she learned early on that fairy tales did not exist. Not for her at least.
"Come on, we need to grab our travel bags." Jonathon gestured for her to follow him where their luggage would be. She didn't have anything that would scream rich so her burlap sack sat next to his large travel pack with rolled up sleeping bag on top. He reached down to grab his things, and before she could bend over Jonathon snatched her bag from grasp.
"It wouldn't be gentlemanly of me to let you carry a sack milady."
Nyla scrunched her eyes and forehead so that she showed her disbelief. "Are you for real, give me that I'm not a lady." She snatched the satchel from his hands, and he chuckled at her expense. "What?"
"Nothing. You have an interesting grump of a face." The ship was finishing its final docking procedures and laying the ramp down for the workers and travelers to
Nyla shook her head in disbelief. Turning away from him, she left with a sour expression. "Whatever Jon."
He had gotten used to her ignoring his title and addressing as such. It was really easy to tease her. "You're going to scare children if you walk with a face like that!"
"Oh shut up!" Nyla retorted, her face now slightly red from embarrassment and anger. She didn't want to scare children, but Jon was annoying sometimes. "I'm leaving without you!"
Jonathonwalked after her chuckling. "Oh come on, it's a joke Nyla. Nyla!" Hedidn't think she'd actually leave him on deck as she stormed into the new town.
