Kendall Rivers ran for the finish line, sweat dripping down her forehead as she pushed herself to the red ribbon that said 'finish line' in big white lettering. Her friends in the bleachers cheered her on and this made her run even faster. She couldn't come second in this race! Not again! She couldn't let her family and friends down. They were all rooting for her to win.

It was actually only her friends that were cheering Kendall on. Caleb was too busy managing and stocking the newest Apple Store that had just opened up that he was the manager for. Hanna was too busy making wedding dresses and planning the wedding for this business woman and according to the woman everything 'has to be white Hanna!' Her sister Kylie was too busy hanging out with her new boyfriend Freddy at the local art studio one building away from the school stadium so it actually kinda hurt that Kylie couldn't make time for her own sister or even make it for the last ten minutes! But nooo! Freddy baby was too important.

Kendall pushed this thought out of her head as she finally reached the finish line. Half of the school stadium jumped up onto their feet and shouted Kendall's name in pure joy that the girl from their school had won the National Student Running competition (NRS)

Kendall's friends ran down too congratulate her, their arms open wide, their faces gleaming!

"Ahhhh! Kendall! You won babe!" Her best friend Peyton exclaimed.

Kendall's face glowed. "Ah I know I've been dreaming of this moment when I would get that trophy." She pointed to the large, gleaming, gold trophy sitting on the red clothed table at which the second place girl and third place girl were now standing, accepting their medals.

"You worked hard enough for it Kendall! God you were a nightmare! So much running and exercise isn't healthy ya know. Not for someone as skinny and bony as you!" Peyton said. Kendall's face dropped slightly. Was this really what her own best friend thought of her? That she had worked so hard to win the competition purely to loose weight! That was atrocious! Wasn't it...?

Sweat poured off Kendall's head as she woke up from this nightmare. It couldn't be true could it? Could her friends think this of her, now that she was exercising more and eating less? It wasn't a crime though! She wanted to win this competition so badly and she was going to do whatever it took to be the best! Second place wasn't good enough! That first place trophy was her desire! Nothing and no one was going to get in the way of it!

She rubbed her eyes and rolled out of bed. She took one look in the mirror and decided to have a cup of coffee and a slice of french toast for breakfast. That was it. No big fry this morning! No slice of cake with her cup of tea! That food wasn't for a running competitor!
She needed to practice today again.

Her boyfriend Noah had practically shouted at her yesterday for training so much. Did he not want her to work to the best of her ability? Did he not want her to win this? He knows how much Kendall loves her sports and yet now, at the most important time, he decides to tell her off for training! Why?

She went downstairs and was hit by the smell of burnt toast and freshly brewed coffee. I'm gonna be sick! She thought.

She poured herself a glass of water and sat down at the kitchen table.

"Morning!" Kylie said from across the table.

"Hey." Kendall replied, unenthusiastically.

"What's up?"

"Tired."

"Is that all?" Kylie raised one eyebrow.

"Yes." Kendall looked exasperated.

"Fine. Won't say anything else about it then." Kylie swiftly left the room, like an angel, and headed upstairs to get dressed. Kendall envied Kylie a little. Kylie didn't give a stuff about sports or exercising every day yet she was still a skinny wee mite.

Skinnier than you you mean, the voice in Kendall's head told her. She pushed it away as well as her glass of water and went back upstairs to her room.

Curse the stupid voice in my head! I am fine just the way I am. Kendall told herself reassuringly.

Maybe she was fine the way she was living right now and maybe she wasn't. That was up to Kendall to decide. She just wanted to get that trophy more than anything! So what if she skipped a meal a day! It would be worth it in the end wouldn't it! If she won the trophy she desired in the end then all the training and eating less would have payed off right!

I just need to reassure myself of this, she thought.

She got dressed for school, pushing all the negativity and doubts and worries, out of her head and into the air...

Hey guys! New story coming up that includes Kendall and a little bit of romance too towards the end! I can't wait for you to read this one! It'll be great!
