July 3rd:

I stood at the girls concert watching them rock the stage. They finished one of their last songs before the lights dimmed and the spotlight was on my girlfriend. "So the show is ending obviously... But I want to say something real quick..." A bunch of pictures of Camila and I showed up on the screen. "In a week, I'm losing the love of my life as she's getting deployed on July 10th. She'll be gone for five months, and five months to me will feel like five years. You guys don't know her yet, but her name is Lakyn. She's put up with my bullshit and clinginess for over five months now. She's here tonight and I just want to tell her I love her. I love you Lakyn." She broke down making my heart ache to just hug her. I pushed my way to the end and the security let me through so I could go up there.

I walked up earning a roar from the crowd. Camila crashed into me and sobbed again. "It's okay Camz. I'm here now." I wiped her eyes of any tears and kissed her lips gently earning another roar from the crowd.

"Oh my god what a bunch of horndogs..." She mumbled making me chuckle. Camila made me wave at the crowd before leaving the stage.

We laid down on a blanket and watched fireworks blast into beautiful colors. Fourth of July was my favorite holiday besides Thanksgiving and Christmas. Camila cuddled into my side and traced the outlines of my muscles. "Hello Lamila!" The four Fifth Harmony girls harmonized.

We greeted them and we all watched the explosions of colors light up the sky. I  looked over at Camila who was already staring at me. "What?" I whispered in her ear. She yawned and crawled on top of me.

"Nothi-." She fell asleep sprawled out like a starfish on top of me. Dinah squealed and came over to take a picture. After two minutes my phone buzzed. I took it out and saw that Dinah posted the picture.

'When your OTP is actually the real OTP @LakynRC1996 @camilacabello #4thofJuly #OTP'

After another hour or so I sit up and picked Camila up in my arms. I take her to our room and lay her down. I take my deployment backpack downstairs and look at the pack list. The girls helped me pack my towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss. I got my two uniforms and left one in the closet for the day of my deployment.

I opened my dressers and pulled out four white under armour muscle shirts and three black ones. "What're you doing Lay?" Camila mumbled and I stood up and walked over to her.

"Nothing Cami you should go back to sleep." I kissed her forehead as she nodded off back to sleep. I pulled out my seven pairs of black cotton boxers and sports bras. I went downstairs and packed all of it in my backpack.

"Is that it?" Lauren asked and I checked the list. I shook my head and went to the bathroom pulling out razors and a brush. I walked out and set the stuff down before walking out the garage and grabbing my small survival kit. I brought it in and examined the dull knife.

I sharpened it for about ten minutes before examining it again. Good, sharp, and deadly. I got my small laptop and packed it all in. "I'm done." I told them as I stood up while packing my formal uniform. "Why do you need those?" Ally asked as I packed the beret.

"It's what all soldiers wear when we come from a deployment." I told her finally zipping up all the backpack pouches.

July 10th:

I turned off my alarm five minutes before it went off at 3:00 AM. I showered and did my routine in the bathroom only taking ten minutes. I walked out in my boxers and sports bra and slid on a black under armour muscle shirt. For a few minutes I stood there staring at my uniform hanging up on the top of the door frame.

A hand touched my back making me turn to look at Camila. "Hi." I turned and kissed her lips gently.

"I'm gonna get ready." She whispered in my ear. I nodded and watched her walk into the bathroom. I pulled my camouflage pants of the hanger and put them on before grabbing my jacket and hat. I put them on before pulling my boots over I shoved my pant legs in tied them. Camila walked out of the bathroom and held out her hand. My 5'9 frame unconsciously moved towards her tiny 5'2 frame. Instead of taking her small hand I picked her up and carried her down the steps as she laughed and snuggled into me.

The girls were all awake including my sister who stayed with me the past few days. I put Camila down and walked into the kitchen and pulled out everything to make a huge breakfast.

Everything took about thirty minutes since I cooked the pancakes, bacon, and eggs at the same time. Everything finished and I dished it all out on seven different plates. I put the toast in and grabbed out butter and jelly. After making fourteen pieces I called them in and they rushed in to grab a plate. They all put butter and syrup on their pancakes and put their selected topping on their toast. I went last and put jelly on both pieces of toast and buttered my pancakes and poured the syrup on.

I sat down next to Camila and ate at military speed. I finished my two pancakes before scarfing down the two pieces of bacon. I started to throw the scrambled eggs down my throat before finishing it off with toast. I chugged my milk before wiping my face and setting down my utensils.

When I looked up I saw all of them staring at me in awe and just giving me crazy looks. "What?" I asked them and they all seemed to snap out of it.

"Uh that whole plate..." Dinah pointed her fork at it, "is gone... And it's only been three minutes." I shrugged and stood up.

"I have other stuf-.."

"Sit your military ass down right now." Camila commanded making me immediately sit down again. When Camila got mad I knew not to push her buttons further. From experience, I know that she will attack you and smack you. So I chose wisely and sat down. "I don't care what you have to do. You are sitting here next to me until I'm done." The Latina roared before angrily biting into her toast.

All the girls mouths dropped at the flare my girlfriend just gave me. I raised my eyebrows and looked at Camila. "Are you done screaming at me?" I was being patient with her. Her eyes shot to mine, but as soon as I stated into them her façade fell.

"I-I'm sorry." She said realizing that she was a little out of line. I didn't say anything just took my dog tags out of my pocket and flung them around my neck.

"It's time to go." I told them as I got up and walked away to grab my Army issued backpack.

"You didn't forgive me..." Camila whispered watching me tug on the twenty pound backpack on my shoulders. "I can't have you angry at me."

"I'm not angry and I already forgave you." I told her while grabbing a case of envelopes, stamps, and five pens. I grabbed her hand and pulled her to the SUV. Ally already claimed the drivers seat. I got in the back and sat across from Camila. I pulled my knees up to my chest and rested my forehead on them.

'High death rate for US Army Cavalry Scouts'

'Another Cavalry Scout dead on Syrian soil'

'Cav Scouts taking hits in the Middle East'

I looked out the window only for my vision to be blurry from unreleased tears. I rubbed my eyes so it looked like I was just tired, but really I was just getting rid of the tears. 'Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage.' I told myself mentally before looking over at Camila who was already looking at me.

I smiled and took her small hand in mine and kissed it. "Okay, we're pulling up." I saw the Miami Airport and then the big military plane next to it.

"Over there..." I pointed to the huge plane.
