Camila and I sat in the living room after the girls left. "I'm going to make us dinner." I told her and she breathed a sigh of relief.
"Thank god, I'm starving." Camila groaned while pushing me off the couch to go start the food.
***I set the plates of spaghetti on the table and poured drinks for both of us. When I turned around Camila was already chewing her first bite. "Sorry I was hungry." She said after she swallowed making me laugh and sit down across from her. "There's some mail for you." She pushed an envelope to me and I opened it with my knife I always carry.
'Dear Miss. Carter,'
It has come to our attention that you and your Cavalry Scout platoon has seen plenty of action on your deployment. That means you have experienced what most of our new soldiers haven't. I want to give you a chance to take your training and skills up a level. We want you to join the Army Rangers and train to become one. Please email us here.... ******** if you wish to do so.
Thank you for your service,
Colonel Christopher Phillips'I set the letter down in shock before running a hand down my face. "What is it?"
"They want to give us a chance to become Army Rangers." I told her with a small smile. She stared me and then sighed.
"Lakyn... I'm pregnant, please don't leave and do more military training. I know much being an Army Ranger means to Army soldiers, but please think..." I took her hand and kissed it.
"I'll text the guys and let them know and I'll email Colonel Phillips and ask if we can do this after the baby is due. Does that sound okay?" I asked and she nodded with a small smile. After I finished dinner and cleaning up I pulled up my email and sent a message.
'Dear Colonel Phillips,
The guys and I have gratefully accepted the opportunity that has been awarded to us. However my fiancée is pregnant at the moment entering her 6th month. If we could hold of on the training for about three months that would mean the world to me.
Thanks again,
Private FC Carter'"Does that sound okay Cami?" She looked at it before kissing my jawline and nodding.
"Perfect Lay." She mumbled against my neck. I sent the message and picked her up. She fell asleep while I carried her up the stairs and into our bedroom. I sat on the end of the bed after tucking her in just thinking about the future. There was a lot to think about, deployments, training, weddings, Fifth Harmony's next tour, and most importantly our babies. Just thinking about those certain things drained my energy. I crawled under the sheets and was out like a light right when my head hit the pillow.
***The next morning:
I woke up at 4 AM when I heard pounding on my front door. What the fuck, who's here at this hour? I got up and walked down the steps. I swung the door open and in walked Lauren. "What the hell is this?" I asked as the green eyed girl paced in the kitchen.
"This is me coming over at 4 AM because I am literally about to shit my pants. My brother, Chris... Thinks that joining the military is now a good idea. Thanks to you." Lauren growled while staring at me with those damn eyes.
"It is a good idea Lauren. It will change his life for the better. He will learn honor and respect on a brand new level. What do you want me to do?" I asked while pouring her freshly brewed coffee. She put her head in her hands and shook her head no.
"Do you know anything about the Air Force?" She looked up at me before drinking her coffee. I sat down at a stool with a smile.
"The Air Force huh?" She nodded making me sip my coffee before sighing. "Do you want to know a secret?"
"Sure?" She asked confusedly. I got up and held up the 'give me a second' sign with my finger. I walked to a safe and spun the qualification. All my military certificates were in there so I grabbed them and walked back in.
I pushed one over to her and she read it out loud. "Air Force disqualification certification..." She looked up at me in shock, "You got disqualified from the Air Force?"
"Yeah, what do you want to know? I can tell you basically anything." With that we talked for a few hours about the Air Force. I told her that it's prestigious and highly respected. She seemed to lighten up the more I told her.
"Lauren?" I heard Camila ask in confusion.
"Hey Camz. I had to talk to Lakyn about something important. She cleared it up for me." Lauren got ready to leave while Camila just stood there confused. Once the door closed Camila plopped down on top of me.
"Why was Lauren here this early?" My fiancée asked while playing with my short hair.
"Chris is thinking about joining the Air Force. Which reminds me to check my email about the Ranger training. I pulled it up and saw that I had a new Email from Colonel Phillips.
'We agree due to the situation you are in. Your platoon will report to Fort Benning, GA on October 20th. Giving you three months and a week on break.
Always Forward,
Colonel Phillips'I texted the guys the information and showed Camila with a big grin. "That's great babe! You'll be here for the birth of the babies." My eyes shot up as I just heard what she just said.
"D-Did you just say babies?" I asked in complete shock. Camila just let out a big grin making me shut my laptop and put my large hand on her stomach. "Two? Twins?! Two of me? Two of you?" I asked making her laugh and kiss me gently.
"Yes... Twins." She responded after pulling away from me.
