"So, I've asked Nate, but he's stubborn and never told me.... how where you two separated?" I asked Sam, raising my eyebrow. Sam chuckle and looked at me, thinking of a way to word the answer.
"Well, it all started when Nate and I became interested in Henry Avery and his lost treasure, we, well, I, began to do a bunch of different research and stuff. After that we had to find a way to go to the Panama prison because there was an old cell we needed to check out, and by we I mean Nate needed to check it out," I chuckled. "But after he checked that out, a friend, Rafe, had killed a guard so we had to escape. But while we were escaping, I was shot. Nate, convinced I had just died, kept going."
I looked at him, shock painted across my face.
"Don't worry, I was obviously okay, I mean, I'm here telling you this."
I laughed lightly at his comment.
"Anyways, after that I was fixed up. When I got out of prison, I tracked down Nate and we continued the search for Captain Avery's treasure. After, of course, I worked with Rafe a little longer," Sam finished.
I had to take in all of the information I had just received. It seemed like a pretty painful past.
"Wow, that's um... that's pretty crazy. How long until you reunited with Nate?" I asked looking at Sam and his hazel eyes.
He looked at me and said, "Fifteen years."
I simply nodded. I grabbed the canteen out of Nate's holster and took a drink.
"How did you get out of prison?" I asked fully unaware of what was ahead of us.
"Well basically-," Sam was cut off.
"Shush! Look," Nate interrupted pointing towards something up ahead. Sam shrugged and caught up with his brother, "Arcticneer people."
Sam and I sighed.
"I guess it would've been pretty weird if we didn't have anyone trying to kill us during this. Then again, it would've been nice to have a peaceful hunt. But! Can't have everything," I commented putting the canteen back in Nate's holster. Samuel pulled his pistol out of his holster. I pulled my own gun out of my holster, Sully did the same and Nate, being the lucky man he is, pulled his shot gun over his shoulder.
"Lets go introduce our selves," Sam said sarcastically leading the way. "Maybe they baked cookies."
I rolled my eyes and laughed lightly, they're definitely related.
"Look, if we go back to the set up empty handed, Nick will put us down before we can even explain," one of the Arcticneer people told another. We crept close to them without being spotted, we didn't have a plan so we were going to have to just roll with the punches, hopefully not litterally.
"How many are there?" I quietly asked Nate.
"One, two, three, four- there's gotta be at least thirteen," Sam answered. Nate nodded in agreement. I sighed. When we took out the guys at Ocloments Island, I had really terrible aim.
"How are we gonna do this? Stealthy or shoot our way out of this?" Sully asked before I could. We could do both, if we had silencers, which we don't have, I thought.
"Lets try to do this as stealthy as possible, if we get caught, well, we'll figure that out. But, just make sure you have your gun locked and loaded," Nate answered. It was a good plan, if there were less guys and more places to hide. The plants where tall enough to creep through, but only a quarter of the idiots are near the grass.
"Okay, be quick, stay in one piece, and don't get caught," Nate said slowly, standing a little but still hidden. We all slowly got up and separated.
"Ok, we're clear," Sully said after Nate took out the last Acrticneer asshole twenty minutes later. I wiped a bead of sweat that was trickling down the side of my face.
"Yea, now lets go before more show up," Nate said picking up extra ammunition from one of the dead assholes.
"Good idea," I added walking with the boys.
"Hey, can I talk to you for a second," Sam said tapping my shoulder. We stopped a little so we were out of earshot from Nate and Sully.
"So what's up-" was all I could say before Sam's lips were crashing into mine. I didn't know what to think. He caught me off guard. The man I met 2 weeks ago just randomly kissed me in the middle of a tropical island! Sam pulled away, there was a look in his eyes that I couldn't read, but it changed to guilt.
"I'm sorry. I don't know what I was thinking," Sam said. I raised an eyebrow, I don't know what to think.
"Um... its fine... I guess," I replied. I wish I could have said more, but I was too shocked. "We should probably catch up with Nate and Sully."
He nodded. The guilt was highlighted on his face, it was honestly quite sad, it was making me feel guilty.
We both caught up with the others, Sam was sure to stay ahead of me to avoid eye contact. But I could still feel the guilt radiating off of him, and Nate could too.
"What happened back there?" Nate asked when he was away from Sam's earshot. I shrugged,
"Nothing."
Nate looked at me and began to "read" my expression.
"If it was nothing Sam wouldn't be acting like that, and I know when your lying," Nate said giving me his "tell-me-our-I'll-tickle-it-out-of-you" look. I sighed.
"You know me too well, Nate. He kissed me, and he feels guilty because it was random and there was no warning."
Nate looked confused, I could tell he was thinking real hard. Then I could see a lightbulb go off in his head.
"Oh, I see. But my brother doesn't get guilty when he kisses someone." Nate said. "Well don't take it the wrong way, he probably had know idea what he was thinking."
Nate smiled and patted my back. I gave him a smile and pushed his hand off. He chuckled and took the lead once more.
I don't know why, or what it is... but I'm definitely feeling something very odd towards Sam. It could be nothing, but I definitely feel something.
