He woke up screaming, drenched in a cold sweat.
"Hey! HEY!! Look at me!" He barely registered the loud voice next to him until she pulled his face close to hers. "Breathe, Cloak. Breathe." Her command was stern, but spoken more softly than before. She didn't let him go until he'd calmed down and caught his breath.
Once he was released, he looked at himself. Apparently checking to see if he had any wounds, most likely from his nightmare. But no, nothing new aside from his old scars.
"What the hell happened?!" She asked, slightly irritated. "And don't you, 'I'm fine Undyne' ME." She warned, crossing her arms. When he stayed silent, she uncrossed her arms, her minor anger subsiding for now. "Cloak, what happened? You haven't had one of those dreams in weeks."
He sighed softly. "It's complicated." He started in a soft tone. "You want the whole thing or why I was screaming?"
"Are you offering to actually TELL me everything?"
He looked at her. She was seriously worried, it hurt him. He didn't like worrying her, especially not with how much he cared about her. "I...I remembered my accident. On my first day in the guard." He started, being semi-honest. She couldn't tell the difference.
"Yeah? So why were you screaming like that?" She asked. "Gave me a damn heart attack, I thought you just saw someone get killed!"He looked down, rubbing his neck. "It wasn't me in the dream, at least not in the accident like that. For whatever reason, my mind put you there, getting hurt. I freaked out and ended up falling off the falls in Waterfall trying to help, hence the screaming." He responded. "I'm sorry."
Undyne rolled her eyes, pushing him back on his pillow so she could lay on his chest. "You feel this? This, THIS, is real. Not some crummy dream about me getting hurt. You got that?" She said. She looked up at him, their eyes met.
He smiled. "You're cute when you're mad at me." He said, deflecting a bit.
"I..I AM NOT." She protested, looking away from him.
"Yes you are! Look how red you are!" He teased, managing to get her to completely drop the subject."Knock it off!"
"Awww, Undyne is shyyyy~!"
"That's IT!" She yelled, adjusting to quickly tackle him off of the bed and onto the floor.
What happened instead, is the tackle worked a little too well. She knocked him onto the floor, hit his head on the dresser, and landed on top of him with their blankets. Cloak started to crack up, but Undyne started laughing as soon as she saw he was alright. They laughed for a few moments before looking back into each other's eyes.
"That's what you get for teasing me!" She said, grinning.
"So...what do I get when I ask you to marry me?" His question came as a syrprise to Undyne. She was trying to process if he was teasing her or not, so he asked again. "What will I get then, Undyne?""Wait! Hold..hold on!" She was flustered, to say the least. "You're...wait! We...I..."
He just laid there, patiently waiting for her answer.
"P-promise me something first!" She started, calming down a bit. "NO ONE KNOWS I GOT EMBARRASSED."
He smiled, leaning up to kiss her on the cheek. "No one even knows we've been dating for the last 5 years, your secret is safe with me. I promise."Undyne sat up, crossing her arms and grumbling. She figured out he'd changed the subject. "I'm making you answer my questions after we get married. Got it?"
"...Yeah, and I will. I promise babe."
